CB (5) - trade might bump one of the bottom guys, but no room for a UDFA here unless they blow the staff away

After the draft, that is roughly 47 locks and then Rivers, X. Smith, Murchison, Keir Thomas, Reeder and four OL who have been with us for years fighting for three spots.

That is 9 players who have been with our organization in some capacity fighting for the last six roster spots alongside the UDFA class.

I wouldn't get attached to any of these guys - going to take a lot to make this team this year

I know I really shouldn't predict when it comes to UDFA...but I really think Dolac, Lampkin, Edwards, Wedig, and one of Williams or Presley has a real chance of making this team. Makes up for our relatively small draft class.

I can't wait to see which numbers our guys take (and we're still waiting for Landman's number in free agency).

Fixed by adding on someone you forgot. ;)

Seriously, though, Lampkin was solid for us when he played, despite being an unheralded UDFA. Wallace and Woods flashed as well. Forbes is still very young (only twenty-four). Williams, Witherspoon, and Durant are solid vets. We could easily sign a vet like Ramsey after the June 2nd cuts. And you've still got Lake/McCollough playing what amounts to the STAR position.

I'm sure they aren't thinking of him as a primary FB, but he has experience there and would be something that could put him ahead of others if he ends up in the running for the tenth OL. I could certainly see McVay finding something for him to do every game or so.

Willie Lampkin is an interior OL. I believed he played mostly Guard but got work at center at the Senior Bowl, where he impressed many. He's very under-sized ... between 5' 10"-11" and 270-280 lbs,

There has been speculation by draft sites and analysts that he could be converted to fullback, or a reserve G/C and short-yardage FB.

Here are the comments by Lance Zierlein, who has been around. Lampkin should be interesting to follow.
"When it comes to the three phases of a run block (positioning/sustain/finish), Lampkin has the best tape I’ve studied of any prospect in the 2025 draft.
He’s tremendously quick and athletic to beat defenders to the spot laterally or to climb and connect in space. He plays with excellent hand placement, leverage and footwork to sustain blocks.
He uses that stickiness to finish blocks, too.
He’s sound in pass protection but will give way to size and length from time to time.
Unfortunately, he falls far below NFL size standards, but he’s too good a football player to ignore.
Smart teams should consider using Lampkin as a fullback who can get into space and stick to his block while offering position flexibility as an emergency backup at center.
Whether he’s drafted or not, Lampkin has NFL-caliber talent."

Just because an OL lines up on a couple plays in the backfield doesn't make him an FB. William Perry wasn't an FB. if Kyren throws a TD on a flea flicker he's not a QB.

Wallace is the only one I have any expectation/hope will be a player. McVay frequently mentions him among the young DBs, including his post-Draft sit-down with Long and Farr.

Combined Lampkin and Woods were in on just 13 defensive snaps in 2024 (Pro Football Reference)

Wallace was in for 154 snaps.
Plus he was a productive player for a top-Program at Michigan ... fingers crossed.

Woods and Lampkin excelled on special teams, though. They were a huge part of that. I'd take both of them over Kendrick, who may have more talent, but has far less maturity than both Woods or Lampkin.
