Mario Williams - DL - Free Agent
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports the Dolphins are the "clear front-runners to sign" free agent DE Mario Williams.

Florio reports there is a "push" to get the deal done Tuesday. Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports the impending deal "may be worth roughly $8 million per year." A deal with Williams could prompt the Dolphins to rescind Olivier Vernon's transition tag or, more likely, release veteran Cameron Wake, who is scheduled to count $9.8 million against the cap.

Come on Snead make him an offer he can not refuse!

Rams need to DE signed. I was hope for both Williams and Hayes. Things seem a little too quiet for the Rams.Let's go spend some ESK's money. Finns are spending like crazy money with only around 20 Million under the cap.

So it looks like Barron, McLeod, Hayes, Jenkins and Harkey will all hit Free Agency. Very disappointing.

I wanted Williams as a fit early on because I figured we might be able to buy low on him. But I don't like him at $10 million. Let him join that collection of turds in Miami so they can have another guy who will follow Suh's lead and quit on the coach after a couple losses.

Based on recent draft trade history If the rams give up one of their second round picks that will likely be enough ammunition to move up for Goff or Wentz in the 3-6 range both who are way better prospects than Lynch. The RGIII trade is an outlier and in hindsight a huge mistake for the Skins,

2012- Cowboys give up pick 14 and 45 for pick 6
2013- Dolphins give up pick 12 and 42 for the 3rd overall pick
2013- Rams give pick 16, 46, 78, and 222 for pick 8 and 71
2014- no top ten trades
2015- no top ten trades

Rams have recently been on both ends of the spectrum of trading up or down in the range we need to get Goff or Wentz. The price is pretty much a 2nd round pick. The Bills deal was a little different because we swapped picks and moved up in the third so we gave up a 7th rounder in addition to a second round pick. Interesting the Bills used our 16th pick on the last QB taken in the teens EJ Manuel a raw, high upside, toolsy guy who hasn't panned out. If the Rams see Wentz or Goff as the future of the Franchise they should go up and get that guy instead of waiting at 15 and making a Manuel like mistake on Lynch,
What was the cost to trade up from 6 to 2 in 2012?

How is it that we have no updates on our own? Normally you would hear some rumours that we're close to a deal with a player by now. But with our own, nothing. If we lose more then one or two, I want Demoff fired. Because he would be a failure. Wasted so much time on that tool Janoris when he should have been busting his ass to sign the players that care about being here such as Tru, Hayes and Barron. The fact that all of them are hitting FA, is bad enough. Demoff should be on the hot seat. You don't risk your entire franchise like this. Especially when moving to a market like LA. Our defense is all we got. And we can potentially lose half of it. Rant over.

A person would think they would have wrapped some of them up already and I'm including Barnes. Other than Jenks none are long term big money guys. Maybe the Rams don't like them as much as we do.

Saints sign Michael Hoomanawanui to a new three-year deal
Posted by Darin Gantt on March 8, 2016

Michael Hoomanawanui found a nice little niche for himself in New Orleans last year, and they wanted to make sure he built on it.

According to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, the Saints have signed the veteran tight end to a new three-year contract in advance of free agency.

The Saints acquired Hoomanawanui in a trade with the Patriots last fall, and he played in 12 games for the Saints.

He wasn’t exactly Jimmy Graham, as he caught just 11 passes for 76 yards and three touchdowns in New Orleans. But he did carve out a role as a blocker and an H-back, someone versatile and useful as they try to re-tool their offense.

not really sure what kind of updates you expect to get. the season ended about a month ago now. theres been plenty of time to work out a deal, and being closer to the start of free agency isnt gonna help make a deal happen. Its tough to sign players only a month away from testing the market. players, and some times the team, would like to see how much they're worth

Malik Jackson finalizing deal with Jaguars

A day before the official start of free agency, the best available player already appears to have his next team lined up.

We noted yesterday that former Broncos defensive lineman Malik Jacksoncould sign with the Jaguars, and today Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver reports that Jackson and the Jaguars are finalizing a deal. Jackson confirmed to Josina Anderson of ESPN that he plans to sign with the Jaguars.

Although the Jaguars can’t officially sign Jackson until the start of free agency tomorrow, they’re allowed to talk now, and it appears that they’re on the same page.

Jackson is the No. 4 player in our Free Agent Hot 100, and the only player in the Top 10 who hasn’t either already re-signed with his current team or been restricted with a franchise or transition tag.

According to the report, the deal will make Jackson the fourth-highest paid defensive lineman in the NFL.

The Broncos had hoped to keep Jackson, but that was always a long shot, given the other free agents they need to re-sign, including outside linebacker Von Miller and quarterback Brock Osweiler. The Raiders were also believed to be very interested in Jackson’s services, and Jackson’s former coach John Fox also wanted Jackson in Chicago.

But in the end, the Jaguars appear set to land their man. The Broncos’ Super Bowl-winning defense will take a hit, and the Jaguars will get one of the NFL’s best defensive linemen.

There is no risking the franchise here
Just the opposite
Demoff is about longevity and cap control - cutting Long and JL and Cook was in the plans long ago, as was the move to LA
The franchise is in a great position now
Plus none of us here know exactly what's happening behind the scenes - these guys (our FA's) want to check out what they are worth before signing
We will lose a few guys and sign a couple others
Let's give it another day before we lose our marbles - now I'll lose it too if we come up empty but I think we'll be pleasantly surprised
It's only just begun

Bills keep LG Incognito with three-year pact
3291.jpg

Bills re-signed LG Richie Incognito to a three-year contract.

The two sides appeared to be drifting apart at this time last week when it was reported the Bills were "frustrated" Incognito wouldn't take a "cut-rate deal" and give the team a discount. But it got done a day before the market opened, and Incognito will be back between franchise player LT Cordy Glenn and C Eric Wood after making the Pro Bowl this past season following his year away.

Giants finalize 1-yr deal to keep Pierre-Paul

5681.jpg

Giants re-signed LE Jason Pierre-Paul to a one-year contract.

It's worth "up to $10.5 million." Pierre-Paul was seeking a long-term deal, and the Cardinals reportedly made a late push to sign him, but JPP is returning to New York to bank on himself having a bounce-back year and hitting the free-agent market again next March at 29 years old. He recorded just one sack in eight games last season, but still proved to be disruptive off the edge. Retaining Pierre-Paul shouldn't preclude GM Jerry Reese from adding more pass-rush help. It's a huge need still with DE Robert Ayers also a free agent.

Report: Ravens have strong interest in Watson

48.jpg

ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini reports the Ravens have "strong, strong interest" in free agent Ben Watson.

It's a bit of a surprise, as the Ravens already have young guns Crockett Gillmore and Maxx Williams in the fold. Williams was a rookie disappointment, however, while Gillmore is recovering from back and shoulder surgeries. Watson is a versatile veteran coming off a career year, albeit at the age of 35.

Broncos slash TE Owen Daniels, clearing $4M

3733.jpg

Broncos released TE Owen Daniels.

The move saves the Broncos $4 million against the cap. This was a no-brainer move. Daniels just wrapped up his age-33 season and has looked close to the end of the line much of the past couple seasons. After winning the Super Bowl, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Daniels hang 'em up and call it a career.

Report: Pack 'expressing interest' in Forte

4685.jpg

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Packers are "expressing interest" in free agent Matt Forte.

Forte would have to be open to a committee with Eddie Lacy in Green Bay, but is known to be looking for a contender. It's still an unlikely fit. GM Ted Thompson is pathologically averse to opening his wallet to outside free agents, and it's hard to believe the Pack will be offering the 30-year-old Forte top dollar. If nothing else, it serves as a message to Lacy. If Forte does end up in Green Bay, he'd be a deluxe third-down back with Lacy attempting to hammer away on early downs.
