There have been a lot of crazy, unbelievable sporting moments. Famous at-bats/snaps/shots that happened before my time (e.g. Ruth calling his shot) excluded, these are the top few that I've experienced with my own eyes in real time:
  • Kirk Gibson's World Series HR on one leg
  • Miracle on Manchester Kings comeback from 0-5 against the Oilers
  • Miracle on Ice (USA win vs the mighty USSR in the Olympics)
  • The tackle, giving the Rams their first Super Bowl victory
  • The Mayfield Miracle (yes, I just named it)
In my view, they all have two things in common to make them special for me.
  1. Improbability
  2. Impact
Everything on this list except what happened last night had a huge impact. From a Super Bowl win to put a bow on the improbable Kurt Warner season, to playoff victories against heavy favorites leading to Championships, respect or Gold medals.

My point is that if the impact of last night turns into the resurrection of Baker Mayfield's career, and it's with the Rams upon Stafford's retirement over the next few seasons, I think it will take the number one spot for me.

Where would you rank the above?

Any moments I missed?

Rookie magic Johnson playing out of position at center and winning game 6 of the nba championship. As per...

May 16, 1980, Johnson went off for 42 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists, leading Los Angeles to its first championship since 1972. He averaged 21.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and 8.7 assists for the six-game series and was named Finals MVP.

Al Michaels' victory claim at the end of the game was oddly reminiscent of "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!!!"

saw that one live on TV. Also saw the Mich State-Indiana college upset live on TV. Had no clue Magic would end up a Laker, that idea seemed so far-fetched after that college win.

Didn't watch the 1980 USA hockey game though but it was on a TV at my Dad's or Mom's wherever I was at.

Watched Gibson's HR live at almost 1 year in my first house. That was just wild too.

Then there's the Bills comeback vs Oilers playoff with their backup QB.

Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, when the Cardinals were one strike away from losing the whole thing, and David Freese first got them into extra innings and then hit the walk-off HR to win.

Then there's this:

Consider Foreman was 45 years old - the record at the time for oldest heavyweight champ was 38 (Jersey Joe Wolcott). And it had been two decades since Foreman had lost the title to Ali in Zaire. As Larry Merchant said, it was a 2-1 fight, but he thought it was a gazillion to one that Foreman would ever be heavyweight champ again. And as Jim Lampley said, "it happened."

David Freese's homer against the Rangers in the WS.

Giants beating the 18-0 Patriots

Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp getting the GA TD in the SB.

Chiefs and Ravens beating the shitters in the SB. Yes I'm counting them both.

Steelers beating the Cardinals in the SB.

Astros winning WS in 2017 (my first experience being in a pro city with a championship)

Rams beating Texans last year (my first time seeing the Rams win in person, let alone the eventual SB champs)

Patriots beating the shithawks in the SB...not a fan, but Dick Sherman's epic reaction made for some funnies

And of course last night.

I put it more in the category of Ryan Fitzpatrick's comeback against Houston
Was a ton of fun, but the reality is that it will be mostly forgotten since the Rams wont make the playoffs

Kobe's 60 point game finale to end his career.
I was in tears. Rewatched that game a few months ago with my Dad just a few days before he passed.
We watched Kobe grow up on the Lakers and to see him close it out like that was so ridiculous but also so fitting.
