The Los Angeles Rams Need to Trade for Courtland Sutton

The Los Angeles Rams have a huge 2024 season in store. They’re primed to make a run to the playoffs, but that could be their last chance with Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford on the team. With that, the Rams need to make sure they do everything to ensure the offense performs at a high level. That’s why they must trade for Courtland Sutton.

The Denver Broncos just traded Jerry Jeudy this offseason which would make it seem as though they are going to keep Sutton as their top receiver. While that would be the common thought, it would be more ideal for Denver to trade him. Sutton is a field stretching receiver, who necessarily isn’t known for his quickness. The Asshole Face offense is predicated on getting the ball out quickly and efficiently to limit negative plays. That’s displayed after drafting Marvin Mims last season and Troy Franklin this season. While Denver will be competitive, they won’t be in position to win the division and instead should continue to propel the team forward with younger talent through the draft.

The Rams would be ideal for Sutton. The Rams need another field stretching receiver because while Puka Nacua had a phenomenal rookie season, he also solidified himself as the new top threat. While Cooper Kupp is still good, he has missed time the last two seasons and the Rams need another threat to take attention off Nacua in case Kupp misses time. With Sutton, he would bring a red zone threat as well to fully elevate the offense and maximize it.

Again, the Rams need to make sure they do everything they can to go as far as they can with this team this season. That starts with making sure their receiver room is fully set and has enough talent to uplift the offense and not hold it back. Plus, with Sutton having just this season and 2025 left on his current contract, this allows the Broncos to free up cap space to build the team under Payton the way they can the most to truly be contenders.

I think the Rams are set at receiver and they already have someone who can stretch the field in Tutu.

Man! No kidding!

In summary; Broncos need to trade Sutton because they likely won’t win. Rams need him because they need to win now.

Some chick named Marissa Myers. Never heard of her, she never mentions who the Rams offer up to get Sutton.

Click bait.

My guess is to hit on another WR2 like we did with Robert Woods. Medium risk. High reward.
At what cost though? Especially with our roster that makes no sense.

Was this a fan article? The premise is fine but if you don't get into what it costs or how the Rams will open cap room to pay him then it's pointless.

Why is everyone shitting on this? Courtland Sutton is a pretty good receiver and can give CK rest.

Remember when OBJ was brought in...idea was to have him, Robert Woods, and Cooper to be a 3 headed beast. But then injuries happened until basically only Cooper was remaining. If Courtland can come in and either be part of a 3 team group OR take a more full time role if Cooper or Puka (those 2 dudes take beatings) go down I'm all for it.

The rams tried to acquire Sutton before the draft. Denver said no.

As it turns out, the Rams dodged a bullet, because Sutton wants to be paid after seeing what some receivers are making now.

Personally because it's very unrealistic as his base pay and his gameday active roster bonuses are far more than we can afford on the cap hit. Yes I get that things can be restructured or new deals can be done but as usual in these scenarios this writer mentions nothing about that which is an obstacle to a trade happening.

Then there's nothing at all that I saw anyways listed as to what it would take for Denver to trade him.

Add again to that I think it's unrealistic for Denver to trade him especially when you look at their depth chart. Do we really thing an offensive mind like Asshole Face is going to trade his only reliable WR while running out a rookie QB? I dislike the guy as much or more than anybody but I doubt he's that stupid.

Also I don't think Courtland Sutton is the last piece or even a piece that puts us over the top.

Denver's WR depth chart lists Josh Reynolds as the WR2. Trading Sutton would elevate him to WR1. Would Denver really go into the season with him as the WR1 with a rookie quarterback?

You'd have to think that asshole face is smarter than that. But as with sports anything is possible.

Sutton would be an awesome addition but it always comes down to what the cost is. I'm not so sure the cost plus the compensation we'd have to give up would be worth it unless he really bullies his way outta Denver.

It's because she also suggested that this could be Stafford and McVay's last run when Staffford has requested an extension and McVay has said he's here to stay (for now).

This makes me think that this writer was PAID by someone in Courtland's camp.
Beat writers for Buffalo don't write articles like this for no reason.
