No QB is worth a 13th pick other than Mendoza in this year's draft. Just no.

Maybe in the second round but even then I have high doubts that any QB after Mendoza will be a decent QB.

Backups - yes but I would not take a backup QB until the 5th round at the earliest.

Unless Mendoza falls to #13, the Rams don't need a QB if the goal is to win SB 61. You get a shut down corner or trade a pick for 1. Then you use the other #1 to fill the next biggest need. Stafford is returning so let's go hoist that trophy in SoFi next season.

This team has a lot of talent so this is the year for McSnead to go all in and win it again. If we address corner, I'm good with drafting a blazing fast WR with good hands. (Like the 99 Rams took Torry Holt at #6).

I'm good with the Rams taking a QB with potential in the later rounds. We know that gems can be found there (i.e. Kurt Warner, although Warner wasn't even drafted)

Downs may be the #1 overall talent in the entire draft, regardless of position.
I keep hearing that and it may be accurate idk. I like what I have seen from him but I find safeties hard to watch due to the way TV cameras omit much of the play.

Two things re: Downs is that first he's a safety, which is an undervalued position in this league. And second his actual talent doesn't include great size. So it would not surprise me if he were to slide a little bit. Maybe outside that top 5. Maybe a little lower.

So if that happens do the Rams jump for him? He looks like an impact player. Like a guy who plugs in and starts for us day one. Which means I assume they'd be hot for him, but they may just as easily be hot for someone else.

I don't like any QB enough in this draft.....in other words, I don't want to trade up for one and I don't love who is at 13.
I get what you're saying with Lake being wrapped up, but, Downs to me a perfect for this offense, while it would be a luxury, could make sense.
That said, a true WR threat, a CB, LB or DL would all be fine with me.

The Rams are an offense team first, and wasting the 13th pick on a safety makes no sense when we already have one, and you can get an experienced CB in free agency. And to me the biggest weakness is our LB's in coverage.... As I stated before, Landman was getting burned by most TE's in the league. The Rams Defense currently is in the middle of the pack and if Lake hadn't got hurt we would have been in the top 12.

If we can't trade up to get Mendoza, then we look for another stud WR and a Center (Jake Slaughter) in the 1st round.... And pray Stafford can play two more seasons.

I have a bad feeling Puka might be a hold out (more money). Hopefully the Rams can take care of him sooner rather than later....

So, safety not an issue but the D collapsed when Lake went down.
Bringing down that extra safety to help with coverage, particularly with TEs in our division, makes sense.
I think it really depends on perspective....do you draft a player who you don't like as much, isn't as good of a fit or as good of a player, but, fills a position of need? Or, do you take the player who you think is better and is a great fit, but, is not as much of a pressing need?

I think you go need on defense and the Rams gotta go CB first. Williams is gone...I see no need to mess with the safety position because the Rams are solid there. If you go FA for a corner that's gonna cost $$$.

I like the kid Mansor Delane of LSU...good size at 6' 0" 190. If that guy is there, it's a no brainer to take him!!!

Pretty much agree.
I want a top 5 FA signing at corner, AND then a top pick ( preferably #13) at corner ( Mansor Delane would be nice ) taken also.
No trading assets for the position, other than maybe BY, either. BY is gonna be expensive to re-sign, I think.
Same action for the wide out spot...... a top 5 FA signing and another one taken at 29.
Then, fill out the roster with the draft at LB, S, OL and DL, in that order.

Need 2 starting caliber CBs via FA/Draft.

I tend to think one. Reason being I think Forbes is going to be really good (I could be wrong) , Durant has proven his worth, but the question mark is Witherspoon with his injury (how does he come back).

Free agency can cost you because it can be bidding war when it comes to CB. Wallace can go CB/Safety also.

The defense didn't collapse..... It just wasn't as organized when Lake went down.

The Rams are going to be a version of the Miami Dolphins back during the Dan Marino days (Basically outscore teams). Especially if the goal is to have Stafford play 2-3 more seasons, so if that is the goal they will need to protect Stafford because he's slow a fuck. So that means a very reliable OL, additional offensive threats like another WR.

If you have an aging QB that still has an effective arm and field management but isn't mobile, you don't invest in the defense. Our current Defense will keep 60% of NFL teams 20 points and under.

Of course this is predicated on Stafford staying healthy..... If Stafford gets hurt the Rams are done, no matter what defense we put on the field.
