The battle for 3rd WR has to be the most intense, don’t you think?

If it is this intense - why aren't Tutu and Robinson playing in the preseason.

I think McVay already knows who is going to be 3rd receiver with a split time between Puka Tutu and Robinson
So, Atwell slips to #5 WR in your scenario?

Honestly, if it ends up Kupp, Jefferson, Atwell, Puka, T Johnson, DRob and Skrownek... That's actually a sneaky talented and diverse group of WRs.

Really enjoyed what I saw from Tyler Johnson.

I believe Atwell has Significant lead on who's going to be #3.

Who plays ST will probably determine the final WR on the roster so it may not necessarily be the guy who you like playing the actual position in preseason.

I could see Johnson battling Skow for a spot depending on the ST value.

(I think there's a small but definite chance Skow doesn't make the roster on final cutdown).

Tu Tu would be the odvious choice but would be detrimental in the running game. Defenders would simply push through him when he tries to block. I like his passing game downs but it would be obvious passing downs or runs away from his side. Blocking is what made Kupp and Woods so hard to defend. You couldn't sit on their tendencies, you had to play each down straight up. I liked what Johnson did the other night but.....it was against the "C" team.

The problem with Tutu is that catch radius. You can put the ball right on top of him but if the DB is near him it's a high chance of non-completion. So he's gonna need to start separating in the pattern vs good DBs if he wants to be a guy who can put up good stats because he's not gonna have 300+ yards of contested catches helping him get to that 1k range. That leaves him squarely in the accessory role until that route expertise and intelligence in the system start showing.

Tutu has such good hands for his size though. I followed DJax’ career closely, and the problem with him is throws went through his hands a lot. Tutu seems to suck them right in.

This also makes me feel a lot better about 2024 when Jefferson likely leaves in free agency. The need for a 1'st or 2'nd round WR in the draft may no longer be considered necessary.

Two words to that: Luther Burden.

Do they have a RB that can pass at all?
If they do, can't Tutu take at least one guy out of the running play by running deep (crossing if necessary)?
If so, that could be more effective blocking that guy.
Flea flickers, too. Better have a guy on Tutu . . . with any kind of lead I think Staff hits him.
Sounds like fun to try anyway.

This season will be a season of mistakes and heartaches in the beginning.

Rams schedule looks to be unwinnable to start, could be 0-6 to start off, but it should be interesting to see which players step up the remainder of the year!

train
Train they play Indy and Arizona in the first 6 weeks. 2 - 4 at worst. I'm not convinced Seattle is all that so I'm hoping for at least 3-3.

I don't look at it as who is 3rd.

To me you have 3 positions...not even going to get into x, y, z

So you have Kupp & Jefferson
Their immediate back ups will be Robinson and Nacua if they go down.

Then Atwell has his own role that emphasizes his speed & deep threat ability.

If he goes down Jefferson probably picks up some of those routes and Robinson/Nacua pick up his #2 role on given plays.
