Benching of convenience. Reward the dude who is balling, and give the starter who gets benched a reason to hide behind.
I have the feeling the 49ers are gonna do the same with Purdy.

Purdy offers some mobility, but yeah that would not surprise me.

Brissett's got his moments where I think ok this dude can play a bit. But there's a difference if and when a team becomes a contender, where he's gotta sustain expectation levels of play and I think that will be a problem for him. If the Cards ever get there.

But I will give them that McBride's a pain. Annoying as shit.

I’d trade all of our TE’s for McBride. One day, i hope to see one of these true weapons at TE in horns. Tired of the lunch pail types.
Thats the part I have not understood. In a couple TE-rich drafts, the Rams have not drafted one of “those guys”. They were rumored to have been trying to land bowers, but didn’t have a second choice, apparently. They even had to bring in Parkinson via FA. Going the way of the draft, though, seems to be eluding them.

Clearly they are seeking a dynamic weapon at the position. Is Ferguson the guy? I’d like to see something in that way this year. I’m talking a huge jump.

I say he’s definitely not that guy. He’s Davis Allen with a higher ceiling. Among all of our current TE’s, Higbee is the guy with the superior body control, and even Higs is a bit stiff at this point in his long career.

Everyone disagrees with me but time will tell, or I’ll gladly eat crow.
Again if they want a pass catching TE, the fit is Stowers.
All for it my friend, you know I like Stowers for us….but it really feels like the Rams value those lunch pail qualities over dynamics and athleticism. They talk about speed and playmakers but our TE’s, RB’s and WR depth is so average.Average in terms of speed, athleticism and explosives.

Meh, with the #13 pick we’ll see what the Rams truly value.

I think as it pertains to that pick at 13 it's about efficiency. Stowers is effectively a backup to Nacua in the slot, or he's a guy who will eat slot snaps while doing it at a level inferior to Puka. Which is why I don't prefer Lemon at 13. One's a TE and one's a WR, but both are chain movers who work the middle of the field with different strengths. Lemon adds speed, which admittedly we do need. Stowers adds size which is important with Stafford I think. And Stowers is a great athlete btw, he can stretch a seam, but Puka's still better in the slot.

And this is subjective of course, none of us know what the Rams are thinking. But in trying to project what they're thinking I am estimating that they'll want a player who contributes in 2026 as much as possible, while also filling a long term role.

So that is where I think Tyson or Boston make a ton of sense as more immediate value plus they will fill a role down the road for us. You plug their big asses in at X their rookie season in your 11 sets and let them work.

Interestingly Stowers moved around a lot in their games. He played outside too but he's not going to be as potent out there as one of those top wideouts. Same with Lemon or Cooper or Concepcion, you can stick them out there and see how they do but the return is not going to be as good for 2026 in my estimation.

Sadly, I’m inclined to agree. Theres a reason the Rams keep re-upping Higbee. Ironically, he was the first guy targeted to be replaced when the Rams drafted after hiring McVay.

Ferguson didn’t show enough for me to say he’s that guy who will make us forget Higbee. I need to see some fight in him and come down with some of those contested balls.

That’s why I want to see a HUGE jump from him this year. I will gladly make that crow a serving for two.

I guess I'm seeing different things.
I do love Higs, no slight to him. Both had 11 catches as rookies.. with Ferg averaging 21 ypc to Higs 7.7.
Ferg is explosive and fluid in a way Higs never was.. but he still has to grow. I definitely see the potential to be a very productive weapon.

It’s incredible to me that this is what you(and others see with your eyes).

I truly mean no disrespect with my comment Pupped.

Granted, we haven’t seen prime Fergs yet, but we’ve seen prime Higs and we are talking about fluidity, explosives and body control here, which aren’t generally traits that are coached up per say. Higbee was good(not great) in those areas. Fergs looks like Davis Allen with a little more speed and maybe better ball tracking to me.

My player analysis rarely is far off from my fellow Rams fans but Fergs is an exception.
