In 1985 Coke made a very bad marketing decision and came out with NEW Coke. From what I remember it had less fizz, and some restaurants horded the old stuff and sold it at a premium. Anyway it took a while and they finally admitted their mistake and re-introduced the OLD Coke. EXCEPT it wasn't the OLD Coke. It had corn fructose instead of cane sugar. Mexican manufacturers still use cane sugar and it can be bought here in bottles.

Yea . defiantly one of the biggest marketing blunders ever

But I think the biggest part of the blunder was simply dropping the original Coke all together

they should have kept the original Coke as well

now days it goes pretty much unnoticed as there are like 37 types of Coke , but back then ....................

last year , Coke actually came out with a limited edition New Coke , for the Netflix show , Stranger Things , I actually bought two cans of the New Coke , didn't drink them though , kinda saving them as a collectors item.................lol

Thankfully there was still Judas Priest, Ozzy, AC/DC and Motley Crue to offset all that goofy synth music that plagued the 80’s. It also birthed Metallica, so there’s that too.

What might be fun... what was your favorite music at the start of the decade, vs the end? Because the 80’s had range.

Pat Benatar, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel... early 80’s. I was more into pop, it looks like.

Poison, BonJovi, Def Leopard.... end of 80’s. More into that kind of rock.

90s are the best. Had the best cartoons (Batman, people; your precious eighties didn't have that), best music (Backstreet Boys and Nsync, anyone?), best everything.

The 90's were literally the worst. Worst music, worst clothes, the Rams sucked every year but 99, the cowboys win a lot and the miners picked up another damn SB.

But the 90's had that baggy clothes chic, where it looked like you had lost 100 lbs but hadn't gotten new clothes, look...

HaHaHa yeah bro I still play ZZ from the 80's among other things like Bob Seger from the 70's when I drive. I still love jazz as well ever since my grilfriend at the time and I would go the Hong Kong Bar in Century Plaza on their jazz night in the early 70's. You would never know who might drop in for an impromptu jam session.

Hell my friends and I would often sneak into places like the Whiskey a Go Go, and Pandora's Box back in the late 60's when Heavy Metal was coming into vogue, followed by the soften American version in the early 70's. Yeah growing up in SoCal in the 60's allowed me to enjoy it all.

In the mid-70's I was enrolled at the University of Washington doing grad work when I met an assistant coach of Don James at a concert. Through his friendship I had access to the team during their practices and learn a huge amount about the game from the coaches and players. So in a way music ended up cementing my love for football from a casual fan to a very serious fan. Understanding what I was seeing took me to a different level of appreciation and enjoyment of the game.

You never stop learning things. It's why when Merlin does his breakdowns I still see things and learn things. We all see things from a silightly different perspective and it's all good.

Oh the concert? It was a tribute to Jimi Hendricks a native son of Seattle.

Every generation has their music and rightly so think it's the greatest time, and perhaps in their lives, it will be. I don't pretend to care for my son's music but I certainly don't criticize it like my father did my generation. He didn't like it and said so but that is as far as he took it. With my son I just roll my eyes and we laugh, he calls me old man and I call him kid.
