Of course, some teams improve significantly, while others take a big step-back form one year to the next. However, let's do a quick comparison of New England's opponents, excluding common opponents.

So, AFC East opponents are excluded, along with Pittsburgh and Vegas (Patriots' opponents both seasons)
That leaves 9 games with different opponents.

2025
AFC South (Atlanta, Carolina, New Orleans, Tampa) ... Giants ... Browns ... Bengals ... Titans ... Ravens
... EVERY ONE of those nine teams had a losing record

2026
NFC North (Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit) ... Broncos ... Chargers ... Seahawks ... Chiefs ... Jaguars
... the ONLY ONE of those nine teams that did NOT have a winning record, has Patrick Mahomes at QB

Say it with me Rams' Fans ... Drake Maye for MVP in 2026!!!

Everybody is jumping all over 2nd year QB, Maye, for his play in the biggest game of his life thus far. I remember Maye the rookie playing the Horns in 2024, and I was really impressed at his poise for such a young 'un. I would have loved to have such a cool headed rookie QB as a backup to Matthew.

Maye will not have such an easy schedule in 2026, but I fully expect him to grow and mature even more by season's end.
Well Rams fans did the same thing to Goff.

It's a vicious circle

Had Puka not missed a game, he would have won IMO.
1.5 games missed. Puka got hurt early in Q2 @BAL. I do believe the only reason he didn’t get OPOY was JSN had 78 more receiving yards in. Gotta believe Puka would have gotten > 80 yards in his missed 1.5 games. I will admit JSN was fantastic this year. Only second two Puka as an offensive weapon.

No most of what I've seen is them doubling down on how valuable he is to the team because the rest of them including his OC suck. His worst 3 games were the 3 post season games when he finally played against a competent D. Stafford has 10 turnovers in 13 career playoff games, Maye had 8 in 3 games this year.
100%
This is what I have been saying all day.
Texans: maye looked like shit but opposing QB looked worse.
Broncos: maye looked like shit but opposing QB broke his ankle and a guy who has not started a game since…then there was a blizzard to cement the paltry cheatriots lead.
Seahawks: no back up QB. Great weather. Opposing QB played competently.

I have not seen a McVay team dominated like that since the bills did it opening day in ‘22.

I don't think Maye is to blame for the mediots trying to use him like they did as an MVP alternative. It really falls on the mediots for not giving a flying fuck about the difference in strength of opponents in comparing the two of them. So this evolution is a nice lesson for them, in seeing the difference in Stafford and Maye in those two playoff games where they both played Seattle's defense.

Maye's a fine young QB. Cheatriots are lucky to have him. This playoff experience will teach him a ton.
Cmon Merlin.
Fuck him.
Quit being nice.
Lol

Which shows how little they know. McDaniels is a bad leader and terrible HC but when it comes to purely scheming it up he's in the upper half of the league. Maye had plenty of schematic strength behind him. They just ran into a better team that was much more tested leading up to the title game and the kid got sent to school.

I don't like Maye or the Pats. Just being fair to him. I'd love to have him on the depth chart.

Already said it was a joke that the MVP voting was even close. And that reflects that you have morons in the media handed voting rights and straight fucking it up. But I see a lot of shitting on Maye on social media and I just find it funny people can't stay grounded on it.

Goff did it to himself. He had a horrific run and lost McVay's confidence and probably his own. Bounced back nicely, but I think they're different situations.

Maye just got held up by the mediots as a stupid ass "cool" vote option to be rebellious with. And now they look like the idiots they are for not voting for Stafford.

I only watched Maye a few times... But you gotta give him and the coach credit.... they got their team to the Superbowl where Stafford and McVay fell short.

Hopefully the Rams can get to the Superbowl this coming season.

And Puka was robbed.
Let me just say this about that:
We can debate all we want about hands, route running, blocking, and most importantly, stats (productivity).

I submit ONE play that separates Nacua from everyone else:
It was vs the seahawks (I believe the first game).
3rd down and Nacua catches a pass on a comeback, past the 1rst down marker. THREE seahawks knock him off his cleats and push him about 3 yards back behind the sticks. It’s still a 1rst down based on forward progress and I think everybody can see that. Nacua answers as soon as his cleats hit the grass. He spins, squares up and drives ALL three of those motherfuckers back past the line of gain—just to be sure?
Name another WR who does that. Who doesn’t just flip the ball and trot back to the huddle knowing it SHOULD be a 1rst down?
There was more going on there than just “being sure.”

Puka’s highlight reel will match anyone else’s when it comes to great catches, but will any of THEIRS have a statement play like that?

They ran into a team that knew what the Pats OL was going to do and dominated the majority of the game because of it. And McD never showed he was a good coach by adjusting.

Not disagreeing. I was just bustin’ your chops for the fun of it.

Yeah his adjustments weren't great. But he was up against a better defensive mind in MacDonald. Who is an elite coach on the defensive side of the ball. And that Seattle defense had faced a long list of better teams than New England's offense. I mean facing Stafford and company then going to a young QB it was an easymode victory for Seattle.
