I hope we don't hear any more complaining about tavon running East West on punt returns. All his long returns today started with him running sideways before heading upfield. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but he knows what he's doing out there.

Thank you for making this thread. Tired of hearing about how Tavon just needs to take it straight up the middle every single return. Those hesitations he does give his blockers time to set up and running east-west is extremely dangerous when a guy with his speed is able to turn the corner.

I think the difference today was that the blocking was better and Tavon didn't hesitate. He seemed to know where to go when he caught the ball. He just seemed more decisive today to me.

hears to the recent Tavon critics. we never get the endzone camera angle to see the blockers and the seams from his prospective which i think is just freakin stupid on the part of the broadcast companies. I was at the game so i could see the seams that he saw so i understood his lateral moves. its possibly hes a little smarter at finding the gaps then we think even if it means a little side to side. but he does get to ballsy sometimes.

The complaints had some validity but needed to be tempered with practical reasoning. It was all a question of Tavon getting used to the superior speed, quickness, strength, and savviness over collegiate athletes. There is nothing wrong with him running east-west as long as he knows what angles he can get away with. Previously, he was underestimating the superior athleticism of NFL athletes. Now he has a firmer handle on that and can better judge what he can do now that he can gauge the athleticism of NFL-caliber players much better.

There is a big difference in moving around a block heading up and running sideways giving ground with no hope. He did well today but he did not display the same problems people have pointed out in other games.

I also could not believe there was no flag for the block on the TD that the broadcast crew pointed out. Previous games that block has been flagged.

He did well today his blocking was better and he was more decisive . If he continues to be that way the criticisms won't be heard but it's up to him to silence the critics , not other posters.

The problem is his making a play is about at a 10% success rate. Once every ten tries is not good enough, sometimes he just needs to realize it isn't happening and get positive yards.

I just think he's a different animal. I've noted that the Rams PR blocking has been sub-par this season. They keep looking at him instead of just blocking and letting him do his thing like today. If he's dancing, he doesn't have anywhere to go it seems. He also makes moves just to stop a player from making a big hit on him like that stutter step he used today.

If you take notice, each of his long returns there was a blocker waving their hand in the air saying come this way. . . JJ was very obvious on the TD

I know a bunch of Rams fans were angry that Snead traded up for Austin in the 1st round, but I gotta say that it's SO nice to have a punt returner who can take it to the house at any time. There aren't very many guys like that in the NFL these days, so we should probably enjoy this while it lasts. Also, it seems that Schotty is finally finding productive ways to get him the ball on offense, which only increases his value to this team.

I'm an east and west critic but Idc if he runs sideways then gets some yards... but it's frustrating to see him do it, even run backwards then lose yards. It's just like a rb that's always looking to make a home run play instead of taking what's I'm front of him.... you have to know when to give up for the better good of the TEAM

It also helps when our defense is forces a team to punt from inside their own 30 like today. The punts tend to be longer and more returnable.

I 100% agree with this when it comes to a RB, but when it comes to a PR I want my guy to always try to hit the homerun. When he does it looks like today, when he doesn't it's no worse than a fair catch.
