He's never managed more than 907 total yards from scrimmage in any season

Though one year IIRC he had over 2,000 total yards and several TD's.

If he's changed like he says he is he is a nice weapon.

It's sad Mr. 7-9 ruined his fan fair by giving him that contract that made him so unpopular.

Fisher didn't do contracts. Demoff did that deal.

Nice little peek behind the curtain there when he admits to neglecting the game because of the $ he was raking in.

I agree and good for him to admit that he wasn't trying hard enough.

FFS bro. I don't know how many times we have went over this on this site!!! Fisher had last say and personal control, Snead and Demoff did what was instructed to them. That's how the contracts and organization was set up at the time.
Stop trying to throw Demoff under the bus!

I call bull crap on this notion. Oooh. The Cowboys might use their great imaginations and run some jet sweeps! Maybe even the 170lb. Off -tackle run! I wish we thought of that.
First thing I thought. The cowgirlz offense is a perfect fit because their brain truss is so innovative and imaginative. As if the reason he didn’t do well last year was a lack of all that. Yeah... good luck with THAT narrative.

My guess is that if he does well it will be because they simplified everything for him and will have no choice but feed him the ball.

I still think it’s possible for him to play at this level and he’s a kick in the pants to watch when he is able to make a play but the idea that he’s in a better spot due to some kind of offensive brilliance, just doesn’t hold water.

Tavon is one I will be pulling for except when playing the Rams. Some of his shortcomings were on him (especially when he fumbled or prematurely ran out of bounds) but I believe a just as much was on how he was used (or not used).

No that's not accurate. At all. You make it sound like Fisher had power over everything. He did not.

Yes Fisher had final say on draft AND roster decisions, if he decided to execute them.

Not AT ALL on contracts and salaries. He had nothing to do with that. Nothing to do with who got paid what amount.

Demoff, from the day he walked in the door, has been in control of the money on every level.

This is not a secret. He's been the money man, contract guy, and cap guru from Day One.

Austin's contract had exactly nothing to do with either Fisher or Snead. And while both have been blamed for it, it's completely wrong.

Demoff did the deal. He does ALL of the deals.

Keep in mind he assisted in results BIG TIME for Gurley and others.

In fact the win versus Dallas was because of him being a perfect decoy.

Yes, he was a nice role player who had one good season. The NFL unemployment line is filled with such guys. I can't defend a counter-factual. The guy just didn't produce ENOUGH.

If that's their best play of camp the Cowpies are in trouble

it was a great play by tavon. too bad we never saw him do that for the rams. probably because they never threw the ball to him in that situation. i'm guessing the cowboys won't throw that ball to him like that in a real game also as the chance of an interception is too high.

"I didn't respect the game enough," Austin acknowledged, per the Dallas Morning News' Brandon George. "That's what I'm doing again. I'm getting back to leaving the money and all that stuff alone and coming in and playing the sport that I love."

I understand Demoff did the contracts etc but if you tie his hands and make it mandatory to get a deal done and give him no ability to get leverage then you get a contract like what we got with the Tavons agent.

Good to see Tay taking the mental side serious at least. If they expect to throw down the field to him consistently, good luck with that. He should get that running game cranked up with Zeke though. The ghost motion will hold LBs and DBs just long enough to give Zeke the space he needs to work. He also needs to fix his PR game. He drops the ball way too much which is a shame because he's a threat for a PR TD a year.
Hoping he does well, but not expecting much.

I do wonder what Vermeil and Martz could have done with Tavon.

that's what we all said about mcvay. however the wrs corps was so good last year he didn't need tavon in there. he's only purpose for mcvay was to take some heat off gurley, both as a decoy and as a change of pace rb.

with the cowboys he will receive alot more looks because they don't have much at wr, much like the rams in 2015. tavon was great that year. then he got paid and he didn't respect the game and let his game suffer, in his own words.

FWIW Fisher denies having any involvement in negotiating contracts. After he left he kicked sand at both Snead and Demoff for McLeod and Jenkins leaving in FA.

“I was told that there wasn’t going to be any issues – they were going to be re-signed – and we lost them,” Fisher said. “Janoris got votes for Defensive Player of the Year. That side of it – it doesn’t fall into my lap. … Because of the move, in retrospect and everything, things just got a little out of perspective, and we lost two really good football players.”

And thank God we didn't sign either of them and I thought the same things back then as well. I personally liked McLeod but Snead and Demoff showed great competence back then and out lived the lauded contract of coach Fisher. The result of the decisions made without Fisher today support this as evidence. Demoff and Snead are damn good, they just needed to get out of the shadow of Mr. 7-9. I don't blame Demoff or Snead for wanting to retain McLeod and especially Janoris.
