I too sadly think Aqib Talib played his last game as a Ram. Unless he has unexpectedly fast recovery, I don't see him having much to suit up for at his age. He doesn't need another ring. Hope I'm wrong.
I absolutely could not disagree more with this, The man is 32, he’s a football player who’s gone through many changes and now he wears a C on his uni

To insinuate he doesn’t have anything to suit up for is pure defeatist nonsense thru my view

It would not be surprising to me if your right in saying that Talib may end up later this season playing his last season @ CB for the Rams. AT is under contract for the rest of this season & through 2019. AT will make 8 million next season if he is here. It would not be surprising to me if the Rams offer CB Sam Shields a contract for the 2019/2020 seasons to start @ corner with Marcus Peters & NRC if he can return to previous play when he was with the Packers.

I do not see safety Lamarcus Joyner signing a future contract after this season thus leaving a vacancy a starting safety. I do see that when the 2019 season begins the 33 yr old 6-1 210 lb Aqib Talib will line up in the Lamarcus Joyner position in our secondary.

AT would bring prototypical size & athleticism, proven talents to read the QB, outstanding ball skills with excellent abilities to deflect passes at the last moment & great windom to the rear end of our secodary. How would QB's feel about throwing deep in our secondary with a Talib back there as a free wide ranging deep safety?

Talib’s not a safety.
He’s a CB - and a very good one. I think this is his second injury of his career, he’ll be back.
I DO see Mark Barron as a safety however, if he gets over these constant injuries ( which I doubt happens).
One can hope.

Like Contess and Christian as well.

Want switching CBs to safety at the end of their career really common back in the day? I know it happened to Aeneus Williams, but I thought he wasn't the only one.

Yeah - it’s happened a lot, but Talib’s still fast enough, and smart enough to play CB.
It was Peter’s got beat by Rivers, not Aquib - jmo.

True, but J Johnson should have had coverage over the top. He bailed on it for some strange reason.....

I assume everyone knows that Talib got IR'd. Out minimum 8 weeks. Poop.

Deltoid intact!!!

Per McVay presser postgame!

This is terrific news.

This means Talib will be back for us this year. Timeline Details to come tomorrow, I imagine.

Stars still aligned for us...

Rams hopeful for CB Talib return
By National Football Post
https://www.nationalfootballpost.com/rams-hopeful-for-cb-talib-return/

The Los Angeles Rams are optimistic Aqib Talib will play again this season after the veteran cornerback underwent ankle surgery Thursday.

The Rams placed Talib on injured reserve on Wednesday. He sustained a high-ankle sprain in the second half of last Sunday’s 35-23 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“We’re hopeful that, really, within that eight-week timetable, if we want to use that designated to return tag on him, he’ll be ready to go,” coach Sean McVay told reporters. “So, we’re very encouraged and I know Aqib feels that way. Looking forward to getting him back. I don’t know exactly what that date would be, but I know that the anticipation is to get him back with a few games left in the season. We’ll see where we’re at from there.”

Having been placed on IR, Talib wouldn’t be eligible to return until Week 13, when the Rams play the Detroit Lions on Dec. 2.Talib, 32, made the Pro Bowl in each of the past five seasons with New England (2013) and Denver (2014-17). The Rams acquired Talib via trade this offseason, sending a fifth-round pick to the Broncos in the deal.

Sounds like Talib will miss 8 games, and have 9 weeks (including bye) to heal up.

Then he would be available for final 5 games and also be available for pla—- ahem, Super Bowl run.

All in all, injuries to Peters and Talib are not nearly as bad as I feared right after the Charger game.

The play he was injured on looked so innocuous. Age will catch up with anyone though.

Sure will & Corners do have the tendancy to be fall faster & quicker than most other positions. Who even knows if AT will fully recover from this surgery...no one knows. Rams have not drafted & groomed any outstanding talented corners in a long while. The last CB drafted by Snead was back in 2014 in the 6th round EJ Gaines.

Our present reserve CB cadre consists of:

Troy Hill who had been on 3 different NFL teams in 4 yrs..was an UDFA & will be a UFA in 6 months.
Sam Shields was a UDFA who played for Packers for 7 seasons out of NFL for 2 seasons due to injury & will be a UFA in 6 months.
Dom Hatfield was a UDFA in 2nd yr.
Kevin Peterson was a UDFA in his 2nd season on his 2n NFL team. ON IR after ACL tear.
Romon Richards is a rookie UDFA signed on Practice Squad.

Does :bueller:see a solid prospect for our future starting corner posts in the above group:notsure::palm:? As usual time will tell.

Safeties Lamarcus Joyner & Blake Coutess will be in FA'cy in 6 months. Both our starting 2018 cb's will be UFA's in 2020 along with safety Marqui Christian. Sure appears to me that a serious upgrade of talent in the reserve secondary unit will be high on the list of order in the upcoming draft.

Made the prediction earlier in the season I think our draft's first 4 picks, a first and 3 3rds, will be in any order Edge, CB, G and QB.

Geez, Talib was playing at pro bowl level still when he got injured and suddenly everyone expects him to be crap. Talib has a few years left in him. He'll come back strong because he has that kind of work ethic. I agree we need to start working on our secondary in this next draft but I think Talib will be here to groom his replacement for at least a year.

Not so sure there was much here for AT to groom from as far as talent. Peterson IMO show'd the most sadly he tore his ACL. Hatfield looks like a Nickle & Dime back @ best, & certainly NOT an outside corner. So yes AT is signed for one more 2019 where I hope there will be several prospects here to get a heavy Rx. dose of AT playing skills to assist them in thier early development. These corner youngsters should get a clue from AT on what Wade prefers in his starting corners.

At the this moment in time the need is pointing directly & hard @ an Edge Rusher but as pointed out there looks to be 2 positions (CB & ER-OSLB'er ) for them to choose from.
