Looked like a hold to me. And do you throw out the rule book on such a "pivotal down"?

Seems that's what some people want.

"At that point in the game they're gonna call a penalty?"

"It shouldn't end that way"

"That takes away from the other 57 minutes of play"

Maybe Bradbury thought the same thing....'I can get away with this'

If it's a penalty in week 7, it's a penalty in the SB. If it's a penalty in the first quarter, it's a penalty in the 4th.

Bad calls/non calls? On one pass play the Eagles Kelce was 5 yards downfield and could have caught the ball almost as easy as the WR did. No call? Instead he just hit the CB covering the WR.

They deserve it but boy is it gonna be an annoying day here in Chiefs country. Thankfully all the Chiefs fans that I know are good people so I'll atleast try to be happy for them.

My take: that was the shittiest ending to a Super Bowl I've ever seen. CB's get away with worse holding on nearly every play. A ticky-tack call decided the SB winner, and that's a shame.
Not to mention, Kupp’s play where PI was called, the ball was catchable. This one was not. Also, Bengals still got a chance in the end.

That Super Bowl was amazing and then got completely deflated by that penalty which decided the game.

Big difference I think.

I agree. Wilson definitely impeded Kupp more than Juju was. But just like last year, it happened at the end of the game on a pivotal down and probably changed the outcome.
Not calling a penalty that should be called also changes the outcome. In both of these cases, the Refs got it right.

Catchable is meaningless. They could have sacked Mahomes on that play and it is still called because the hold is before the pass is thrown. Or even of he threw to a diff receiver it is still called. That hold forced Mahomes to hold the ball longer and just heave it up. If not held he likely hits him after his release as he gets open.

C'mon..I expect that from an Eagles fan, but Rams fans should be smarter. Lol!!

What changed in the 2nd half, the Chiefs offense or the Eagles defense? The Eagles offense or the Chiefs D?

A look at the numbers shows the Chiefs offense didn't change much. They averaged 6.4 ypp in each half. The run game was better; 5.6 in 1st, 6.4 in 2nd. 3rd downs were better; 0-3 to 4-5. Pass yds/att was close; 6.8 to 6.6 in 2nd. Mahomes was 13-14 after going 8-13 in 1st.

The Eagles run game fell off a cliff. 87 yds/22 att 4.0 to 28 yds/10 att 2.8 in 2nd. Passing went from 183, 8.3/att in 1st to 119, 7.4/att in 2nd.

During the telecast they were hyping to TOP differential in the first half. But that was aided by the fumble return TD, which gave Philly back to back possessions despite giving KC 7 pts. And it didn't have an affect on KC'S D as the ultra long halftime gave them a huge blow as well as KC's opening drive in the 2nd (5:30).

I think a huge factor in the game was Philly's RB's couldn't get yards (17-45, 2.6) particularly Sanders (7-16, 2.3). And Hurts being their entire run game went 15-70 in the first half but just 4-7 in the 2nd.

I'm pretty sure the refs weren't blocking for them!!

Lol fair point, I just didn’t like the call to end the game. Would’ve been more exciting to see what Philly could do with some time left on the clock. In hindsight, it would’ve been better for the DB to let him score, assuming Mahomes makes the throw.

If the refs are not willing to call a penalty at that point of the game, then what's the disincentive for the defense to commit them? If I was a defender and I knew that "hey, they won't call it now because it's late in the game" then hell yeah, I'd grab a jersey and commit defensive holding. You'd be stupid not to in that case.

That was one of those no win situations for the ref. By rule that was a hold. Was it egregious? No. It only slightly impeded the route. But it was a hold.

We can argue they should let them play in the big game. But if they let it go I guarantee you there would be plenty of still pictures of the clear hold and jersey stretching. Along with complaints of rigged by Chiefs fans.

With social media its the nature of the game now. You don't like a ref's decision then its rigged. Every close game from here to doomsday will have that claim by the losing fans.

Hell I saw Mahomes get hit in the helmet and facemask on the same play. No call. It was a positive play but it could have been another 15 yards. I saw Jason Kelce 5 yards downfield on a pass play. No call. The refs miss calls and make calls. No matter how bad they get it'll never be as bad as hockey. Eagle fans are beside themselves over the fix and the refs but had Philly not allowed a fumble return TD, ran the ball with their RBs like they did all year and sacked Mahomes questionable calls wouldn't have been very questionable. "We didn't play nearly as well as we did all year in a couple of areas but the refs screwed us!!" Yeah, okay.

But seriously, if you really believe what you wrote ... 'It looks like Hurts faked it and gave up the chance to win.' ... then I think you would have to ignore dozens of simple but relevant factors and considerations.
Yeah buddy, you want to go there ? Gambling has never had a impact on major US sports right ? Hurt did not give his team even a remote chance to win the game, and that is his job. Basically threw it in the dirt when there was zero reason to do such. So I said so.
This is not the place for this type of argument, but you want to go "tin foil hat" with me, lets go. Far from it, so if there is a place at ROD where we can "discuss" conspiracy theory stuff where I will wipe the floor with you, by all means lets do this.
If you have been paying attention many of the things people like you have been labeling others as conspiracy nuts have been proven true time after time the last 2 years.
When and where pal ? Just not here and the last I will speak of it on RAMS/NFL TALK.

I can wipe the floor with you around here, l

Your comments are where I'm at now. I mean the NFL's elite pass rushing team does not get even ONE sack against a QB that was obviously hobbled? Go figure.
NTM the superior (top 3 in the league) running team gets only 46 yards on 17 carries (a paltry 2.7ypc) from its RBs ( one of which made the Pro Bowl) and allows a passing team like the Chiefs to out rush them by 50 - 60 yards and they want to complain about the refereeing?
Sorry, but cry me a river. They lost to a team that at the end of the day was more physical than them.
Period....

Personally I think the league tells the referees - hey - call one controversial call near the end of the game that greatly impacts the game so people will talk about that play for months.

It doesn't matter which team gets the call, just make sure the call definitely impacts the game one way or the other.

It was a make up call for the no face mask penalty against Goff
I just wish both were called but hey you live with it right? Lol just like the shittiest officiated game I’ve seen in my life ( and that’s saying something!) with our last game in Seattle. Mother fucker that was horrendous. It was like watching a middle school game with a ref slant one way with those calls.
