Atwell was $10M for one year. This guy might get $36M for 3 yrs. A good front office goes out and finds a Shaheed in the draft and saves that money for your stars.
A good front office finds multiple ways to better the team. If they find his skill set via the draft, that's an early pick you're not using to build the defense. Also, given I have Stafford for another year or two, I want vets who will make an immediate impact. Rookies typically take time.

IMO, sign Shaheed and a vet CB1, and use the draft to focus on defense while being free to pursue whatever opportunities arise.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it (or heard it) but Collinsworth said, "nobody has been able to solve this Seahawks defense......well maybe the Rams....."

Maybe?? FUCK YOU CC. The Rams put up 21, 37 and 27 on that defense. That would be the second most (Tampa scored 38 in week 4) and third most. Ain't no fucking maybe about it Collinsworth.
Yeah I heard it and was like fuck you as well. We bitch slapped that defense. Only thing holding us back was our swiss cheese defense.

Shaheen wasn't a high pick. You can get a return guy later. Barion Brown is a guy they could target in rd 6 or 7, or others like him. I an not paying $12M on a return guy and a guy who just wint make a big impact on offense with all the other weapons they have.

I would use cap space on defense, guys that can step in and improve the D instead of counting nearly soley on rookies. Or sign a return guy who isn't coming off a SB and having to pay top dollar.

I've already noted my two objections to the draft route. We suck at drafting a deep threat WR and a returner. Have we had one success story on either of those skill sets in 9 years of the McSnead era?

Also, I think McVay still wants a deep threat to open things up underneath. That's why he resigned Tutu for 10. Well, with Rasheed you get a legit deep threat and a returner. So I disagree that he won't have a big impact.

Like you, I would use cap space on defense, too. A Jamel Dean or Jaylen Watson would immediately anchor the CB room. After that, you add some early drafted rookies to Forbes and the secondary is much improved.

I don't think they prioritized a return guy or STs in general. Let's see if they learn.

BTW, Puka wasn't a bad draft pick. He has been a pretty good big play guy. No?

No reason they can't draft a WR to do that.

Maybe your intentionally misconstruing what I'm saying? Puka is not a speedy deep threat. Nor was Kupp. They've been successful finding the Kupp/Nacua type, but not explosive deep threats.

It was actually a close game for 3 quarters..... Well closer than it should have been.

The Patriots kinda looked like the Rams in Super Bowl LIII appearance against the Patriots (but not nearly as bad)... Basically a young QB and coach not up for the moment.

As bad as the Pats looked, it wasn't nearly as bad as watching Goff and McVay's confusion during their first Super Bowl appearance..... To me that was the worst Super Bowl I watched.

Hopefully the Rams will figure a few more things out because it's not gonna be easy next season, especially if the niners are at full strength.

Shit ass secondary!

Not putting teams away, playing down to inferior opponents and leaving points on the table by not making good decisions on 4th downs.... That's why the Rams didn't get their 3rd Super Bowl this season

In second place the ST's..... But that's what happens when your kicker goes mental and you have a bunch of under achieving bottom feeders on ST's..... Hopefully that get's fixed.

Ultimately I blame the offense for the Rams not getting to the Super Bowl. They just couldn't make plays or close out teams when they needed to.

You gotta give it to the Hags. They handled their business. The stage was to big for Maye. He couldn't read the blitzes or feel the pressure.
That's part of it, but when you can only get 23 yards from your starting RB, you're not going to beat many teams.

I mean he had pretty much a cake walk season compared to us and seahawks. We are battle tested teams. Nfc is a beast. Lets see how they fair next year. Most of us said whoever won the Nfc championship was going to win the superbowl. That's exactly how it went.

Problem is they weren't using atwell, put him there or hunter.
