can someone help me understand this.... suh and donald in a 43 would be great but how the hell does it work in a 34
It works the same way it would in a 4-3. Donald played 3-Tech last year. That's the same spot he plays in a 4-3 with the same responsibilities. Wade normally shades his NT to the shoulder of the Center rather than playing him as a straight up 0-Tech, but in the past, he's even used his NT as 1-Tech (same spot a 4-3 NT plays). Regardless of whether he's shaded or playing 1-Tech, Suh's responsibilities wouldn't change in our scheme vs. the 4-3.
Wade doesn't run the Fairbanks-Bullough 3-4. He doesn't ask his DLs to read and react or tie up blockers. He asks his DLs to attack. It's why guys like Bruce Smith, Aaron Donald, J.J. Watt, Patrick Kerney, Jay Ratliff, etc. have been incredibly productive in his scheme. He lets them player their games.
It may be an option to trade Austin and have another team pay some of the guaranteed $5M but nothing saved in the cap by cutting.
I don't know exactly how they reworked his contract, but his roster bonus was previously slated to be paid last week. Assuming that happened, we don't save money by trading him.
