That last one was just fucking brutal. Pitiful effort. He mad a little contact and just let him go and then stood around looking for somebody. I know Vita Vea is a good player, but Evans made him look far better than he is.

When McVay sees that on film, if he still trots out Bobby Evans again, he's committing serious coaching malpractice.
Somebody on here said they read somewhere that Evans "thought he was sup[posed to pass along Via to the center."

Sorry for the lack of specifics, lol. But that play makes more sense if you view it as a miscommunication rather than a complete whiff.

Regardless, I fully expect Evans to be replaced

Yeah, I can see where it looks like that. But even when you take that into consideration, the effort and technique by Evans is so piss poor that Allen didn't have a chance. You would think even if Evans was supposed to pass him off that he was at least first supposed to slow Vea down at least a little to allow Allen to get into position.

No matter how much one tries to give Evans the benefit of the doubt on that play, it's still a galactic-center black hole level of suck.

.

Something is very wrong with Stafford because he has been beyond awful this season.

.
Same thing that happened to Goff. When the Oline breaks down it has a multiplying affect on the QB. Even when the protection is there the QB is rushed due to lack of trust.

That is not to diminish Stafford. He is overall a better QB. But the scenario is exactly the same. It can also be seen with Mahomes when his Oline deteriorated and he couldn’t do shit, and all the other QBs.

It’s why I, along with several others were bitching when Mcvay was not prioritizing the Oline in the draft and with resignings such as Saffold or Corbett. Meanwhile Andy Reid and others did. And here we are.

Just watch - when the Rams rebuild the Oline Stafford will magically improve to his former self.

Draft all you want … you lose 5 Olinemen, you’re fucked.

Even if they lost two starters.. I think they would've been in good shape.
But.. three starters and two backups?
The Rams are starting three backups right now.. and the guards are 9th and 11th Olinemen on the depth chart.

Well Bruss wasn't looking that impressive in the preseason

I think he needs time to develop his skills

Well, ... he now has another year to learn the system & strengthen his body, that extra development should give him an edge by opening day 2023.

How is that? Big healthy guy. Not trained right by the strength coach. I know it happens but sheesh. Any injuries in college? Just sayin...

If I recall correctly, someone fell on his leg in a preseason game.

No qb can be successful with no running game and no pass protection.

Nevertheless, the last time the offense struggled (though not to this degree) McVay and everybody else blamed Goff. McVay wanted a more aggressive qb who could make quicker reads, go deep, hold up better under pressure, etc.

But the Rams lost the game on Sunday because McVay didn't trust the oline to protect and/or Stafford to throw the ball for five yards with the game on the line. Not just the game, but their best chance to turn around this season after the bye and after standing pat at the trading deadline. So who's to blame now?

I personally doubt whether Stafford will play much longer unless the Rams can fix the problems on the line and in the running game. Been there, done that in Detroit. Already made a quarter of a billion. Wife wants him to retire. And a fix looks like next year at the moment.

Depends on what starters and even then I'm not so sure about that. Bruss & Boom both were inconsistent and even now the team is not sure what they are so both may have taken a good chunk of the season to improve. Allen is marginal at best in the pivot and this OL is either not getting or not understanding or simply not executing his calls. Hav has always been a run/pass balance OT who gets worked with too many deep drops plus a good rusher over him. Shelton is a backup and a center only IMO, his time at RG included a whole lot of being pushed around. Edwards has looked like asshole all season even before the injuries.

Our depth wasn't shit either. Only Jackson is of sufficient quality. The rest are unknowns who could not stay healthy when needed.

I think the Rams rested on their laurels a bit too much with OL this past offseason. The injuries give them an excuse but I guarantee you that in-house they know they fucked up. They're not perfect but they are very good at course corrections so they will address the shortfalls this offseason I am sure. Losing ensures action with McVay.

The only game that Shelton played at RG was against Buffalo and he was the only one who did a decent job in that game

Not sure where you saw him getting pushed around at RG

I don't rewatch games this season so my takes on these guys aren't always accurate. But I recall him being pushed around by that DT.

I was curious about Sheltons play in that game because everyone said he played poorly so I decided to watch each play with Shelton and he actually was the only one who didn't get pushed around. At least in the first half. I didn't watch the second half because that was such a shit box.

Well if you watched each play I'll admit I'm wrong then because I didn't. But overall I still don't feel like this OL had anything near enough done to it last offseason.

And that's also admitting that I was ok with their approach with Boom. Because I figured he could also move to RT if LT was too much for him. But in hindsight I think they went the easy route with the room and I don't mind admitting that because in this league the team you end up fielding is all that matters. Everyone who gets fired has excuses and often good ones.

Shelton had a PFF score of 67.9 in the Buffalo game, nothing to write home about, but not bad for his first start at the position. Personally, I preferred him at LG when in relief last year. jmo.
