Outside of Aaron Donald, Steven Jackson is my 1a/1b favorite Ram of all time.

I wouldn't mind taking another look at SJ, although I'm also not sure he left under the best of circumstances ... and may have burned some bridges on his way out. We don't need to add any chaos to our locker room if he's still unhappy.

Can you imagine this team, with prime Steven Jackson?

Imagine Todd Gurley's prime. Now imagine him, but bigger and fifteen times better. That's what S-Jax would look like in his prime with this team, and it would come without the drama that Gurley had.

Are you suggesting the Rams look into the possibility of signing him!?!

Fifteen times better? Which Steven Jackson are you taking about? I don't think he was fifteen times better than Gurley. I don't even know if I think he was better than Gurley, from a pure talent perspective. When you factor in longevity, yes. But just what they theoretically could do on the field for the team? Nah.

Gurley never ran behind shit offensive lines like what Jackson had. Gurley never had eight consecutive 1,000 yard+ seasons like Jackson did. Jackson may not have been a top ten pick like Gurley was, but in his prime, he was big, had breakaway speed, was impossible to tackle once he got going, and yes, he never got injured like Gurley did. Even when Jackson was injured (Eagles game when Nnamdi Asomugha tackled him after a long touchdown run on the first offensive play, if I recall correctly), he came back when it mattered and still got his 1,000 yards.

And let's not forget his character. Steven Jackson was the absolute heart of the Rams. He never bitched about anything team-related, never sulked about his coache), even when they were absolute shit like Linehan and Spagnuolo. He gave everything and more for a team that flat-out sucked when he played with us.

Gurley sulked, threw Fisher under the bus, played games with McVay, and tapped out of games on specific downs where we needed him. Yes, I loved TG30 when he played for us, but the guy was not a team player around the end of his tenure here.

And yes, I'd go with prime Jackson - a prime Jackson that had nearly 2,500 yards from scrimmage in 2006, his absolute pinnacle - over prime Gurley.

I’d take it a step further and crown SJ39 2nd best Rams RB ever next to #29 (least I’d ever seen since 69-70) No disrespect to MF as he too was quite elite

Forgot 2019 already? :)

Actually there were only 2 seasons Gurley had a decent OL (2017-18). But your point remains since those were his productive seasons.

If you're going to say Steven Jackson was 'fifteen times better' than Todd Gurley, you have to expect some push-back.

Arguing that Jackson was better, and raising viable points like durability, team-talent and leadership ... like you did ... is reasonable. But 15-times better!?! Come-on.

The above O-Line comment was a little off.

The Rams still had some quality O-Linemen early in Jackson's career ... Pace, McCollum, Timmerman and Nutten, and a few good linemen (but not good lines) came after them.

Gurley's O-Line's in 2015 and 2016 were pretty weak, with Greg Robinson, Tim Barnes, Cody Wichman, Garrett Reynolds, Jamon Brown and Andrew Donnal all being starters at one point. Havenstein had a good rookie year in 2015 but had a poor second season, while Rodger Saffold missed much of 2015.

Jackson was tremendous. A true workhorse and durable (3,200 touches); and played mostly on bad teams. However, he only averaged more than 4.2 yards-per-rush 3 times in 12 seasons, with a high of 4.4 yards-per-rush.

Gurley's career lacked durability (about 1,700 touches), and he played on excellent teams in 2017-2019; plus he did sulk. However, he averaged 4.7 yards-per-rush, or better, three times. At his best (for a short period) Gurley was great.

I would argue that Gurley was great for a short period of time; and Jackson was terrific for a long period of time. I have no issue with an opinion that Jackson was the better back. But NOT fifteen times better? No.

Jackson better than Gurley? OK. That's reasonable.

However, do you think he was 'fifteen time better' than Gurley?

THAT's the comment a few of us are pushing-back against.

Steven Jackson was maybe fifteen times better than June Henley ... maybe.
