One idiot on reddit suggested a trade too. Bell to the Rams for Gurley and a 2nd rounder. hahahahaha
There was one potential trade the Rams could have made for Bell if the Steelers would go for it. Bell for the Rams 4th round pick. The Rams would immediately rescind the franchise tag and hope to get a compensatory 3rd in return.Les Snead picks up the phone.....

The Steelers can't get a compensatory pick pick this year because of their FA signings, but the Rams would.
Not sure where you heard that, but that's not correct.Nope. If the franchise tag is rescinded the player is an immediate free agent with no comp pick in return.

Having to sign the tag makes sense. I remember that was an issue with potential Cousins deals, but a number of outlets have reported the Steelers could have gotten a 2019 compensatory pick by releasing Bell, even now. They just have too many signed FAs.He's right. However, Bell can't be traded unless he has signed the franchise tag. If he signs the tag, it can't be rescinded.

Didn't they already calculate the comp picks for 2019?If they had during the off-season, I think you're right. I don't think they could get a comp pick if they rescinded the tag now. IIRC, there's a deadline where it is no longer counted in the formula.

But wouldn't it be a 2020 comp pick? You're right. The second Tuesday after the draft - May 8 this year. https://overthecap.com/2019-compensatory-draft-picks-update-5-8-2018/
