Jimmy G's calling card is living underneath and that's a tough living at this level. Also he won't have the run game Ratboy gave him in SF, nor will he have a lot of underneath pass catchers tuned to that type of offensive approach guys who are skilled RAC. McVay runs a WCO but philosophically he's got that natural Coryell type offensive mind where he prefers to stretch it deep not just horizontally. And Jimmy in that usage suffers, to the extent that the offense will change to feature a lot more short yardage throws and dumps.
Which is fine as long as the defense plays at an elite level out the gate. We really don't know what they're going to look like, other than we have on paper a front that should make opposing OL shake in their boots. But what is that going to equate into. If they can keep opponents under let's say 19 points over the first month while this shit with Stafford sorts, then we could have that fast start we all want. But if they slip into the mid 20s we'll be dropping games. So a lot of the Rams fortunes as it pertains to the early going will be on the backs of the defense.
