Yep. You were happy enough to put pen to paper.

So fucking honour your word.
Unless I missed something Stafford only wants to up the “guaranteed money “ for his contract as a sign of good faith for playing beyond this year. I look at that as a positive - a commitment from Stafford to ensure he plays for the Rams for perhaps the next 3 years.

This guy is just playing it up to get clicks, Stafford is not unhappy if anything he wants a longer contract. The video the Rams just put out seems to be promoting a longer run with him at QB1. The last minute or so he’s talking about 2 or 3 more championships not 1.

star trek wtf GIF

YEAH - just to define logic,I erased a 2 Page Post. Instead I’ll listen to some Post Malone & Chill.

Can’t say I don’t have passion.In short The Rams have had a good offseason & the 2024 Draft didn’t disappoint .

What you can look at is The Beauty of the Day before it’s over.

That still means he wants to change the contract that he signed.
Yeah.
And if the Rams want him to come back, it's an easy thing to figure out.
Nothing stops someone like him from suddenly deciding to retire midway through OTAs next year after the Rams have already had a draft and FA period. Nothing in the contract could compel him to continue playing.. just like nothing in the contract would stop the Rams from cutting him.

You have an elite QB.. you treat him like one.

Whether the $$ is guaranteed or not, it won’t matter if he plays. He gets paid. He isn’t gonna be walking out there for free.

Edit:
Is he really concerned the Rams are gonna cut him?

Yes but in a way that is fair to the Rams IF they want him beyond this year. It happens every year for numerous NFL players whose teams want them for the duration of their mutually agreed to contracts at the terms of their original contract.

Yeah there was my confusion.

If we pay him guaranteed money it means he can walk away with more. Not that he can play and make more.
I would not want to give him guaranteed money.

There needs to be some language in the contract that protects the Rams from retirement. It would put the Rams in a bad place if he got the contract and retired early leaving us with a shit ton of dead cap.

Does anyone here really think both the Rams and Stafford don’t know exactly what is going on with this situation?

They will work together to come to a mutually beneficial agreement to rework the contract.

There is absolutely no “the sky is falling” scenario here.

LOL what? Teams don’t honor their word all the time. It’s a business. Players should be able to look out for themselves. Full stop. He’s not asking for more money that will dent the cap, he’s asking for more guaranteed. He’s outplayed his contract and led this team to a Super Bowl. 9 more QBs currently make more guaranteed money than Stafford. He was a top 5 QB last year. End of story.

I've been saying all along the Rams had him retiring at the end of 2024 which is why the contract is structured the way it is. For Stafford to cry about things now is stupid. He makes it sound like he's fucking poor. Geee poor Matt he's only got $37M STILL GUARANTEED RIGHT NOW. The contract is structured so that the last two years are option years for Matt. If he plays in 2025 he would be paid $50M, and if he plays in 2026 he gets over $49M more with $37M guaranteed for those two years. Or he can retire like he was originally thought was at the end of this season. Poor baby he's only gonna get $50M to play in 2025.

It's why I assumed they would take a QB this year in the draft. They tried to move up to grab Penix but Raheem screwed the Rams and grabbed him instead of trading down. They would rather waste the pick for a player they aren't going to play for at least two or maybe three years.

The Rams should say no he can play under the option years for a measly $50M in 2025 or retire with his $37M. Stafford is injury prone and has been dinged every year missing time in 2022 and 2023. The Rams should wait and see how he fares this year before they commit more $$$ for an injury prone player. I love Stafford but C'mon man you are under contract for 3 more years so play out this year and retire with your current $37M guaranteed or play out the last two years for another $100M total. Sorry guys but this is a shakedown pure and simple.

For him to make this an issue right now makes me think he sees the Rams moving on from him next year. I think they should. Hell Tua and Goff will be FAs in 2025 LOL.

.

stafford did the rams a solid when he took much less than he could have asked for when he signed the deal.

now he's seeing the crazy money some rather average qbs are getting and probably wants a little more tacked onto his contract. can't blame him. the team cap keeps growing.

that can be worked in with the guaranteed money he wants.

Well don’t even need to read the story. She asked a question that called Mcvay out on it. I guess I do need read the story to see what the purpose was on her timing of the question she asked both Sean Mcvay & Les Snead ? When Mcvay was deciding in his heart if he WANTED this(Rams HC) he had to make a LIFE decision .
We all know how AD99 WALKED AWAY !! Just think Sean Mcvay needed that respect.

Joesph Noteboom is still a Ram !! Yes The Rams cut Brian Allen, but he was a Big part of what is ahead of the Task Steve Avila has ahead of him. Matthew Stafford is going to have to be apart of this.

We’ll see what comes of ALL this & The(this)Story ??? I guess I need to find out what The Media is saying.
What I know is what I heard from my own ears & what the reaction was from it. I’m not reporting anything about this STORY. I said I actually LOVE her as a reporter.I basically careless about her so called story’s. Truth is she asked really good well out questions. She brings an eliminate that The Rams have never had in that department.
IMO she is well respected, but I wonder if her writing crossed a line ?? I lost a little respect from her.

Yes- I need 2 stop. That’s why I said I actually LOVE her.She is good for us Rams Fans & she is a True Rams Fan & Earns our respect which I should have more of from her.I do think there is a boundary & she isn’t afraid of it!!!! There is accountability & I think Ram Fans that don’t Trust The Rams process need to.

Joesph Noteboom is a Ram IMO just goes about his business & has earned Sean Mcvays respects.
Alaric Jackson is an example of how The Rams keep things in House. Todd Gurley was a player I wish the reporter would have pressed The Tough Question on ???

Stetson is another & Mattew Stafford knows The Full extent of his Personnel Life, more than he probably wanted to ?? Do we as Rams Fans need to know all those details ?? I don’t know ??

What I know is I like The 411,,but do I need to know it.I’ll trust I don’t need to call the source. In time we’ll get the news, but I see under the court of Law how things can be viewed as well. Can We handle The Truth ?? Do I really want to READ THIS STORY ?? I’m just saying what I heard from a reporter & I don’t even know how much Matthew Stafford makes ?? I think The Podcast that was coming from his House w/Friends was more than I wanted to see.I saw how things were reported & can only assume from there on The Rams Rookies.

—IMO - this Rams team has only gotten Younger & has more Positive Energy than any The Rams Team I think I’ve ever seen.

If WE(Fans) think that it’s worth trading 3 1st. Rd picks to get to The Number 3 spot in The draft for a QB ? I have a Purdy good idea that I wouldn’t want T. Lance as my QB over Stafford.Does OT continue in a Playoff game or just The Super Bowl if only 1 team has had a total possession ?? I wish The Chicken & The Egg was that simple.I guess time doesn’t run out.You have to start another quarter.

The pay phones use to take dimes. It cost a quarter to call towards The End.
That moment you realize Joe Biden is a Rams fan.........

Can’t they bring Tua (Maryland)in now - lol ?? Jimmy G is in The HOUSE. We’ll get a good look at him & Dresser Winn.

This will play out.I’ll let him do his thing . Last year the thing about playing with all those ROOKIES

So what is the theory here? He wants to scam the Rams by getting more of his contract guaranteed, and then retiring at the end of the year?

Seems to me that his current “demand” DISPROVES your theory about 2024 being Stafford’s last year.

I know I am going to piss some people off here but so be it. I respect the hell out of these guys as ball players and for the time and effort they have put in to becoming stars in the NFL, because believe me I know the commitment and effort it takes to be in the top 1% of something. However, they act like little greedy intitled children when it comes to these contracts. I don't care how much they have it never seems to be enough. After working all my life, it just strikes a nerve with me that no matter how many Millions they make it never seems to be enough for them. Let's get real if these guys were not playing ball what else would they be doing for a living. There I said it now let the shit storm begin.

And you've been wrong about that each time you've said it....
This is how contracts are written, 2/3 - 3/4 of the contract will be guaranteed, the back end not.
Leaves the door open for restructures/ extensions etc.
Patrick Mahomes has multiple years left on his deal and the guaranteed money is almost all gone, you think they thought he was retiring too?

This is such a non-starter. Who knows how this conversation went, the Rams may have addressed him about a restructure and in doing so the subject of guaranteed money would have come up.
You can tell how concerned the Rams are about it, didnt draft a QB, nor even sign a UDFA
