I don't think those guys frequent this board. That's a beautiful catch though.

Nick Scott. Yeah he's not winning the deep safety roll over Rapp or Burgess.
Agree.

Nick Scott played the 3rd safety position after the injuries to Rapp & Burgess. Scott plays that position, okay but it would be best that he be beaten out by a better coverage safety. Speed, ST's & safety injuries have kept Scott on the Rams roster as the Ram's 3rd safety. That will change this season.

Jordan Fuller was also injured early too. There will be serious competition ongoing in the safety unit. The coaches should have fun in TC with the extra-large size cadre of a generally good bunch. I do expect some surprises but think that Jordan Fuller will be the primary deeper playing safety.

@den-the-coach is completely correct (nothing new) in his assessment of Taylor Rapp's coverage abilities or lack of them. I expect Rapp to be heavily involved with the ILB'er posts on passing downs. I actually can see new DC Morris moving the safety Rapp to WSILB. It sure would make the competition for last season starter Kenny Young very interesting. Rapp/ Howard/ Young/ Rozeboom/ Moncrief. It's Rapp's best & natural position in this defense IMO.

The situation @ the Corner unit will greatly affect the final selection of roster-winning safeties going into the 2021 season. I would need to remind Ram fans that Jalen Ramsey often ended playing a ton of the safety roles when the ball was snapped last season along with playing the Nickle. Due to this current roster that has a lack of good corners outside Williams & Ramsey.......that is sure to change thus making this secondary less frightning.

If Burgess is healthy in TC & preseason & he is not needed to be the starter @ Nickel Cornerback then Terrell Burgess by far has the best talent to pair with Fuller as the starting Ram safeties. I could project that both UDFA in their 2nd seasons JuJu Hughes & JR Reed winning the backup safety positions. Hughes being the better in coverage which is badly needed & Reed being one very tough DB who has bad intentions for the offense when on the field.

Kupp is gonna BBQ any safety 1v1. That's what you call a mismatch no matter who it is.

I should add that the projected starter Travin Howard was primarily a college starting strong safety in college. Much like Rapp. It might serve Rapp to add some armor in muscle too. Howard is around 220lbs & Rapp around 210lbs. However, he may really be trying to remain light so in order to attempt to perform better in coverage. That's the hope I would think he thinking anyway.

On the route Kupp caught the ball, he seemed a little surprised at how easily the ball smacked him right in the bread basket.

Because of how perfect the ball hit him in stride, Kupp almost had to do a double clutch to secure it. Shortly after practice Kupp asked, who in the heck is this guy the NFL media calls Stat Padford?

Is this part necessarily true? The only change to our corners is the swapping of Hill for Rochell. Hill had a good year last year but I think our scheme hid his weaknesses since coverage was rolled to his side. Hill was exposed vs GB and was the main reason we lost that game IMO. We wonder how Long and Rochell will step up this year, but Hill and Williams were unproven as starters heading into last season and I think some were more concerned with those two at this point last year. I certainly was.

Yes, I will continue to wonder about David Hill particularly. The selection of one corner in this draft surprised me as you know I was projecting @ least two.

Yes, many fans were concerned & knew very little about Darious Williams...here some of my thoughts on Hill back in April of 2019...plus some of my thoughts on Darious Williams. I have never had any concerns about Williams....

Then here's a post from me in the middle of last season. I have never been part of the Troy Hill fan club. But the Sports News talking heads were sure slobbering over Hill.

Nice, you kept your receipts lol. Good job with your predictions. (y)

My argument is that I don't think the loss of Hill is significant and therefore our corners are just as frightening as they were last year. Ramsey can be played in the slot if Morris wants to continue doing that.

I’m inclined to agree, Castamere.

If either Long or Rochell can effectively replace Hill then I think this secondary is in fine shape. Maybe better than last year, tbh.

Would leave Fuller/Burgess at Safety and Rapp free to move all over the place at Morris’ discretion with some nice depth at Safety.

Next year we probably lose DW, unfortunately, but Rochell was drafted to replace him, I think as a boundary CB. Probably gonna need to draft a nickel CB next year unless a gem is already on the roster that we don’t yet know about. Snead has been known to constantly keep his CB pipeline full via low draft picks and UDFA’s.

David Long was the forgotten one.Rochelle is a raw rookie who seems in college was afraid to tackle.
Personally I think your wrong about Troy Hill.

TC starts up soon,so once Posters(I) go there will be more of idea there.
