I don't think Mahomes is the most physically talented ever. Even of the QBs right now starting in the league Allen gets the nod there.

He's great though. Elite for sure.
Mahomey homer!

Three out of four opportunities to come back from tie or from behind in the 4th quarter, Stafford has delivered with the Rams. I used the word "regressed" concerning Mahomes. He was better a year or two ago than now. I'm riding with Matthew.
His "regression" is a season where he accounted for over 5000 yards of total offense and 39 total TDs. I have my doubts that he is regressing. Rather, it's the nature of QB play in the NFL. Play fluctuates to some degree from year to year.

You are quoting regular season stats and not THIS years post season. You really think Mahomes looked the same as in previous years in the playoffs?

ESPN has a list of the top 5 qbs in the nfl(based on what I have no idea) and Stafford has moved into the top 5 along with Allen, Herbert, Rodgers and Burrow. Notable in his absence is Mahomes.
Stafford wasn’t in this group til he got a ring which is fine but how are you going to leave out a guy with 2 SB appearances for a guy who has no playoff wins like Herbert. Anyway, I guess we need something to talk about between now and the draft.
Herbert and Burrow ahead of Stafford? LOL. Who here would pick any of the QBs in the league ahead of Stafford after what we just saw in the playoffs?

They've got Herbert too high. Give the kid time to do something before you crown him fuck.

Burrow deserves the jump. If you asked the GMs around the league who they'd pick with pick #1 in a complete restacking of the league's players I suspect 100% or damn near would take Burrow. He's the total package IMO. But I'd still have Mahomes ahead of him based on what he has accomplished. Media nowadays just can't help themselves.

And one ugly 2nd half

Mahomes is clearly special... but man when it gets ugly, he's awkward!

Mahomes
Allen
Stafford
Rodgers
Herbert
Burrow

I think thats the top 6 pretty easily. Prior to this playoff run I would've put Rodgers #2 but he continues to struggle in the postseason while others play excellent.

Mahomes is regressing. He's getting to keen on running around and not staying in the pocket and is trying to hit the home run. Some chiefs fans are losing patience with him.

-Ok, ok...those stats look impressive. In fact they look like Pat(ted) stats...

I did watch most of playoff games this offseason...After scoring three straight TD's vs the Bengals, he went 8 for 21 for 99 yards and two picks and no TD's after having the Chiefs up 21-3, and Cinci ended up beating the Chefs 27-24. How is this not considered a collapse by you? In the biggest moment, he didn't deliver like Matthew did and has, being the best 4th quarter QB in the playoffs.

If by "regressing," you mean falling into some bad habits, then I'd agree. But he still gets them to the AFCC Game every year, so he can't be regressing too much.

Against the Bengals, rather than make some difficult tight window throws, he kept pulling it down and ran around hoping to find somebody open on a broken coverage. Maybe he felt like it was a higher percentage play or maybe he just didn't feel comfortable in those critical moments making those tight window throws, but it really cost him this time. Stafford, on the other hand, can't run around like that, so he has no choice but to attempt those tight window throws.

Either way, Stafford is one of the most clutch QBs I've ever seen. Brady is also one of the best, of course. But of all active QBs today, don't think there's anybody more clutch than Staff.

I'd say developing bad habits is regression. But I'm an idiot too. Haha

Allen, Herbert and Burrow are the young newcomers. The media tends to be enamored with guys like that. I would definitely rank Mahomes in the top 5. And he's only a year older than Burrow and Allen. With him the Chiefs will be Superbowl contenders for a long time.

Stafford is definitely a top 5 quarterback. After watching him operate late in big games I honestly don't think I would want anyone else in those situations.

Burrow is starting to show something but I will wait a year or two before crowning him as the QB. Sometimes it takes two years for defenses to figure out the flaws in a QBs game before the QB comes crashing back to earth.

As to Hebert, he needs to show he can win during crunch time.

He hasn't shown that yet.

Like Goff. He looked like a future HOF candidate in 2018. Teams found his weakness.

Realistically Burrow was not that great in the playoffs. The media’s desire to crown him the next Brady is beyond absurd at this point.

Except the dude already delivered in the biggest moment, the Super Bowl against the 49ers. This is the NFL. You don't win them all. The Bengals adjusted and were able to throw him off his game.

RE: Pissed off Stafford

When you watch it from the sideline perspective it was clearly unintentional, and basically a tap, not a blow. Stafford was reacting to the flag which is totally appropriate.

Joey B shouldn't even be on that list. He needs to show he can do it consistently. If you take away the bogus TD off the personal foul the Bungles only scored 13 points against a beat up secondary starting a creaky old man at safety. If that penalty is called it makes it 1st and 25 and there is nothing to say they would convert that. The Bungles had to cheat to stay in the game and still couldn't beat an offense with only one receiving threat. This media lovefest for Joey is really mind boggling.

Better than Mahomes? NFW
