If the oline holds up and Stafford doesn't turn the ball over this game is ours even with the defensive backfield in shambles.

I elect we should shelve the 5 receive zero backfield plays, ESPECIALLY, on 3rd and short. Yes, Michel isn't much of a WR, so what advantage do we have with him lining up outside? I'd much rather he line up next to Stafford and help with any interior pressure we get, which seems to be the biggest contributing factor to Stafford making mistakes.

Hero ball when you need to play smart with a lead is risky. I'd rather he played is smart with the lead and McVay called a better game with a lead but we have to live with it now.

Huh, why it doesnt count? Guy has the MOST 4th quarter comebacks of any QB in the last 7-8 years whatever it is, those don't count either???
If you're talking about Detroit you also have to count all the games that they were not just behind in but then lost. Which were really a lot.

Stafford tends to get panicky after a turnover!!! It's noticeable too. Go back and look...it's a glaring thing...his play drops off considerably.
That’s interesting. How is panicky manifested for you?

How is it glaring?

I think Stafford's injuries have affected his ability to maneuver and escape the pocket. He was better at that earlier this year.

Still, it's difficult to throw the ball down the field if the OL is constantly walking backwards and laying on the turf. The interior OL is not strong enough to hold up against the 9er line.

He tends to get rid of the ball instead of throwing it. It was quite obvious against SF.

Let me say again though...I'm happy with Stafford. He can sling it with the best...BUT...I can't close my eyes to that which I see.

He doesn't seem to be able to put the TO behind him and just play.

The fact is...the stats bear out what I'm saying. As long as Stafford is on he's great...BUT...after a turnover it seems he loses some confidence.

Thats just so untrue, he is actually GREAT at putting the turnovers behind him. Again Baltimore game says hello....and he should have had the same outcome last week if the D holds....

According to Gregg cossell, Stafford had his best game of the year against Arizona in week 14.

Sorry...I don't see the same thing...so to each his own.

In fact...it would be fair to say Stafford crumbled against SF.

Take a good look at Stafford numbers after a TO...they are not good.

If the Rams play clean they win. The only way the Cards win is if the Rams gift wrap the game for them. The big weak point will be Havenstein who is overrated matched up with JJ Watt. Havenstein can't handle Carlos Dunlap he will need help with Watt.

Edwards needs to have a better game, he's the weak link inside. I think they will be drafting or signing a vet OG to replace Edwards. He still plays too high and lacks strength.

Stafford gets a partial pass from me as this is his first year and he's not 100% in sync with anyone but Kupp and Higbee. He's a work in progress in this offense which is more complicated than most seem to realize. Both the QB and receivers must read the route options the same for it to work. OBJ is obviously still learning the offense. Jefferson is in a new position (replacing Woods).

Next year there are no excuses, but this year there are mitigating circumstances.

I’m worried more about the defense than Stafford.
When Stafford throws a pick the Rams are 6-5.

We know Stafford's a gunslinger...and I'm really fine with that...but let's be honest...17 picks are a lot.

Earlier in the week Rosenthal article on the QBs put Stafford at #8...and I think that's fair. He also pointed out Stafford's drop off after a TO...that too...is fair!

Stafford has had some horrible 1st halves, still best rating in 2nd half, and yes he was the main reason the rams lost a few games but to think we'd be better off without him, is absurd.

He's top 5 in just about every metric in just his first year here and I defy anyone to show how any available qb would have been an improvement.

The defense crumbled more than Stafford against the niners.

If the things Ram fans are worried about.....Stafford's inconsistency, Morris' defense, McVay overthinking things.....if they are legit issues, then we'll be lucky to win a postseason game.

4 interceptions in first 8 games. Rams 7-1.

13 interceptions in last 9 games. Rams 5-4.

Glass 3/4 full.
Let the Rams play. They have talent. They have success. They have the best stadium in the world. These are great times to be a Rams fan.
I remember back to the 2016 season watching the Rams scratch out a 9-6 win against the NYJ to go to 4-5 and I was excited that they were possibly heading to .500. I didn’t care how pathetic their offense was or that 4-5 was borderline pathetic. Well the wheels fell off after that game and they ended up 4-12. Then came McVay and no it’s not a dynasty and no they haven’t won a super bowl but damn these are good times to be a Rams fan.
Relax, enjoy and Go Rams!!

NEVER ONCE said the Rams were better off without Stafford. I started the thread simply stating some things he's done scares me with the Cards game coming up.
