Only other season i could argue against being better is Warner in 99. Both with 109.2 ratings.

Warner's story was certainly more eye-catching - but his team was all world against the last-place schedule format of the olden days.

Thoughts?

I asked GROK to rank Matt Stafford against all time. If this result is accurate I can’t imagine the MVP going to anyone but him.
  1. Peyton Manning, 2013 (Denver Broncos)
    • Passing Yards: 5,477
    • Touchdowns: 55
    • Interceptions: 10
    • TD/INT Ratio: 5.5
    • Team Record: 13-3
This season holds the single-season record for passing TDs and yards at the time, with strong efficiency and a solid win total. 25 23
  2. Tom Brady, 2007 (New England Patriots)
    • Passing Yards: 4,806
    • Touchdowns: 50
    • Interceptions: 8
    • TD/INT Ratio: 6.25
    • Team Record: 16-0
Tied for second-most TDs ever, with elite ratio and the only perfect regular season in the 16-game era. 23 21
  3. Patrick Mahomes, 2018 (Kansas City Chiefs)
    • Passing Yards: 5,097
    • Touchdowns: 50
    • Interceptions: 12
    • TD/INT Ratio: 4.17
    • Team Record: 12-4
Matched Brady’s 50 TDs in his first full season as starter, with massive yardage output. 23 21
  4. Peyton Manning, 2004 (Indianapolis Colts)
    • Passing Yards: 4,557
    • Touchdowns: 49
    • Interceptions: 10
    • TD/INT Ratio: 4.9
    • Team Record: 12-4
Set the TD record at the time with balanced efficiency and a strong team performance. 23 57
  5. Aaron Rodgers, 2020 (Green Bay Packers)
    • Passing Yards: 4,299
    • Touchdowns: 48
    • Interceptions: 5
    • TD/INT Ratio: 9.6
    • Team Record: 13-3
Exceptional ratio with near-record TDs, earning MVP honors. 23
  6. Dan Marino, 1984 (Miami Dolphins)
    • Passing Yards: 5,084
    • Touchdowns: 48
    • Interceptions: 17
    • TD/INT Ratio: 2.82
    • Team Record: 14-2
Revolutionary season with the first 5,000-yard campaign and TD record at the time. 23 21
  7. Matthew Stafford, 2025 (Los Angeles Rams)
    • Passing Yards: 4,707
    • Touchdowns: 46
    • Interceptions: 8
    • TD/INT Ratio: 5.75
    • Team Record: 12-5
Led the league in TDs and yards, with impressive ball security in a 17-game season. 40 49 42

Well the '99 season resulted in a title. So if this season results in a title then I'd say we could have this conversation. It's impressive as hell of course but we're not gonna care if this team bombs in the wildcard round.

Most TDs in a season for a Rams QB
3rd most yards (he holds the #1, Warner #2)
Best QB rating like you said.
8 Ints? No Rams QB with 30 TDs or more had less than a dozen, until Stafford.
And 500 points scored? That hasn't happened since TGSOT and before that the Crazy Legs days.
At least top 3 performance, if he goes on to win the big one, #1 or tied for #1.

Warner's season was way better to watch. I said to a friend at the time that I will never have this great of a season as a fan. They dominated from the jump. I mean the offense rolled. Had a couple of bumps but the offense was so consistent you just never felt like they were out of it. Plus 3rd and long ment nothing. 1st 20 no big deal. 3rd and goal from the 20, TD. Big plays up the Ass. Granted he had Marshal and that makes it easier, but you really can't put Staffords season above Warners. To much stress in Staffords.

Love both seasons. One thing I remember from the 99 season. The networks were scrambling to get the Rams on their National Broadcasts. No one expected the team/Warner to worth two squirts.

Kurt Warner said he thinks Stafford deserves MVP this season.
But the 1999 Season has got to be the best. Green going down in Pre-Season. Seemingly Unstoppable Offense. Was amazing.

But Warner's '99 was just magic
Everything about that team was magic. I think the defense gets a really bad rap given they were top 3 and carried us through the toughest games in the playoffs as well. Same with the teams units, they won us a few games that season and had a knack for turning momentum at key parts of games. What an incredible season that was.

From that subjective side I think if you give a QB of Stafford's pedigree and quality a unit around him like that, he's going to destroy the league too. Probably doesn't utilize Hakim as much as Warner did. Warner was better at spreading the ball around and being disciplined in his reads I think, whereas Stafford is more of a cowboy who diagnoses the play at times and then looks open the desired weapon. Not knocking Warner there, either. His competitive approach to every drive was insane.

But talent around the QB really is crucial. I don't think McVay and Snead generally speaking have ever loaded this offense like Vermiel did. I mean hell if you were to stick Stafford in today's Bears offense he'd probably throw for 50+ TDs and outdo what he did this year. And he's probably going to win the MVP.

At best people were looking at that Rams team winning 5-7 games that year WITH Trent Green
Warner's play was revolutionary, and was still in the era of DB's being allowed to be more physical. That team with today's rules would have scored 50 ppg and Warner would have every record in the book
Stafford is having a career year and it rivals the Brady/Manning epic seasons
In my lifetime there are 2 clear cut QB seasons that are far ahead of any others
Warner's 99 is unanimous #1
Marino's 1984 season is 2nd place all alone
Then there are a bunch of great QB seasons, Stafford's 2025 being one of them!

So I'd take what he says with a grain of salt.

I'm of the mind that the '99 team makes the playoffs quite easily with Green at QB, given how the offense looked so good in preseason. That team was not going to be denied. It was loaded and ready from years of Vermiel shaping it. Martz coming in was crucial because it gave us a real OC drawing it up. No way they only win 5-7 with Green, assuming he would have stayed healthy.

But I don't think they win the title without Warner. And I think they were better with Warner, who gave them that feel where every drive mattered. He was one competitive sumbish when he was in that mode. It's funny how that season he had in Arizona when I saw one game and he had that look I was like oh shit.
