You've got a good point.

But we've seen the demand and price for interior lineman rise in recent years. I think, to your point, I may be wrong about it being in the offseason... but I think he'll get a ton of preseason snaps next year. You keep him around and when someone develops a glaring need for a guard, you trade him. I think of the Ernest Jones situation in this case. The Rams traded him when there was no real demand... the Titans traded him to a team that really needed to solidify the position.

I'm hoping that can get them up to a 4th. We'll see.
I think Jackson will battle Limmer for the starting C job next year.

Maybe with Snead. But the Rams gave up a third for Dotson. Jackson looked very good against the Seahawks.

I think they should keep him and let him battle for the center position. They could get the most for him at the trade deadline or end of camp.
Given the limited cap savings if he is cut and carrying a bulk of salary if he is traded, keeping him and letting him battle for the starting C position makes the most sense.
He can play, he's not an all world G, but, he has been good.
He is just always injured.

The Steelers acquire the Rams' 2024 fourth-round pick and 2025 fifth-round selection, while the Rams receive the Steelers' 2024 fifth-round pick and 2025 sixth-round selection.

That was the trade for Dotson.
Gave a froth for a fifth and swapped sixth round picks.
A very small price indeed and nothing like giving up a third round pick for a player.

Boy, I had that one a bit wrong didn’t I

There’s no need to trade JJ. It likely won’t be worth it.
