Some early impressions about preseason concerns held by some...

Good read ups.
The game was on at 2am here, so just sat through the 5-minute highlights this morning.

First off, happy for Brown, he had some solid runs and rewards in the end zone. Happy he is still with us.
Gurley certainly wan't himself, fumbling, that is. He also didn't look to have the pace of late, but he hasn't seen much action for 7 months.

Same with Goff. A little warm-up game.
He looks like he can depend on the O-line, which is great to hear. A big concern of many including myself.

Littleton is solid.
Yeah, he can miss some plays, tackles, but the guy is a play maker.
Great performance from what i saw.

Fowler looks like he will be able to take advantage of Donald's double teaming. Good performance.

The Panthers were always going to be tough.
I had us beat them by a couple of scores, but not surprised that the game was closer.
The Raiders were giving us a scare in last seasons opener until the second half.
Might take another game or two until we are running on all cylinders.
I believe that the Saints will bring out the best in us next week.

Wade had AD lining up at 5T in the early going, 3T thereafter, and he was basically nullified by good blocking and OL teamwork. Panthers did a great job against him, gave him a little schooling too on quite a few of the snaps, which is PERFECT with the Saints coming to LA next weekend.

Because AD has to be pi$$ed. So I expect him to beast out in week 2.

From what I saw, and I tried key on him instead of the play, was that AD was triple teamed almost every play. The Panther’s Oline was also bunching up tightly against him, so the three guys were almost touching one another when facing him. I think Fowler better buy him a beer tonight, cuz those two sacks were provided by AD, IMO.

I rewatched the first half mainly for the OL, but I watched the DL too and didn't note one triple team on him. In fact he was singled up some too. So maybe in the second half they tripled him idk. But either way AD doesn't get stopped by double teams. This was not an AD like performance IMO.

Noteboom never had a man over his nose all day, I think.....I watched it a few times...he has great feet, but I wonder how he handles fast cats..we will see against Rankins next week.
Allen is a fighter, and the Cory of our offense, lol...smart, too

Special teams were the worst of the groups today. Been a long time since I’ve said that.

It was a terrible day for them. Since Hekker, GZ and Fassell have been together this was the worst day they have had.

Littleton is a stud....Peters is still a dummy.

So is Fowler. That was a great move by Snead.

After rewatching the game...

Goff clearly had tunnel vision and missed open WR’s in this game. It was usually missing Kupp wide open, I wonder if this was a result of Mcvay telling Goff to stop forcing it to Kupp which Goff was doing earlier.

On a brite note Goff made several big time throws in this game that i think we take for granted. Overall not his best game.

Allen and Boom were assignment sound all game but Boom struggled more than a few times vs power rushes and Allen got destroyed in the run game at least once, pushed back
about 8 yards. Overall they were serviceable. Blythe struggled in this game.

Cam Newton was horrible. The reason we won.

Goff was like an old Volkswagen. Still ran ok but rusty as heck.

McVay is using the first 3 or 4 regular season games as pre season. I get not using starters in games that mean nothing. As long as they win I have no problem with this concept. sure they looked out of sync and rusty, with timing off, but they'll get up to speed.

Yeah, I noticed the same things. Honestly, Goff looked as bad as I have seen him since 2016, with possible exceptions of the SB and Chi game last year. The fact that the Rams won in spite of that is encouraging.

Neither Boom or Allen can play with the strength that Sullivan and Saffold played with. Boom will be solid as a LT vs quicker smaller rushers but he gets overwhelmed by the power of bigger interior players. Allen is inconsistent. Sometimes he wins his battle other times he gets overwhelmed. Both players are solid in assignment which is half the battle. But Neither will be Pro Bowl level players IMO.

It means that PFF grades should be taken with a grain of salt. Lol.

Means little to nothing.
At least to me.
Their grades for line are play are questionable I think.
Saffold is one of the better G in the NFL.
It’s no surprise Noteboom isn’t up to his standard yet. But then again, in his early career Saffold was a LT that struggled with speed rushers.
Allen looked no worse than Sullivan.
He got beat a few times pass blocking but had some wins in the running game.
I think the Rams will be fine with them playing.

Would love to have had him finish his career in horns. But, Rams weren’t gonna pay what he got.

Someone finally agrees....Noteboom has strength issues (and his lack of intensity doesn't help). He will be a better LT than guard. With someone over him next week, it will be possibly worse. Rankins is hurt (or recovering still), so is his backup, and the Saints had a 5th DT playing against Texans.
