Neither Boom or Allen can play with the strength that Sullivan and Saffold played with. Boom will be solid as a LT vs quicker smaller rushers but he gets overwhelmed by the power of bigger interior players. Allen is inconsistent. Sometimes he wins his battle other times he gets overwhelmed. Both players are solid in assignment which is half the battle. But Neither will be Pro Bowl level players IMO.

I disagree.

Firstly, let's not underestimate the Panther's DL. I'm pretty sure AD makes some OL look bad, but they're just bad against him. He's made Pro Bowlers look just...silly. So that matters.

Secondly, people forget that Saffold was may have been the strongest guy on the team, AD included. Noteboom is very strong, but he's going to get stronger in the next few years. That said, the Panther's DL is on the heavy side and are an old school DL as is their OL.

Thirdly, Allen is an UPGRADE over Sully. He's stronger and his mastery of the OL line calls wowed Whitworth.

Bottom line (for me at least) is that expecting this OL to play like the last one did with a different comp of the best LG in the NFL and a smart, but underpowered and aging Sullivan as compared to a strong rookie in Noteboom and a strong 2nd year C in Allen is unrealistic. Their entire dynamic is going to be different.

I'm more interested in how they fare against the Saints with their faster DL. We saw that by the end of the game, they'd adjusted enough for the Rams to both run and pass pretty well, even as rusty as they were.

That said, I actually think both will be solid and potentially pro-bowl level.

I don't do well evaluating positions like CB and WR, but I do pretty well evaluating OL/DL and I'm VERY encouraged by their play thus far.

The Saints have a lot of injuries on the defensive line.
