I don't care if McCutcheon is 3rd or 8th as long as he plays. Let's use all of the receivers like Atwell, Skow, Harris and Cutch and keep Kupp and Robinson healthy for the playoffs. I hope Kupp doesn't play 97% of the offensive snaps this season. All of those guys can block, except for Tutu and, if they aren't measuring up, then start reducing their snaps.

Snead said he’s getting a redshirt year so I guess he won’t dress for games. Too bad. I’d like to see him if the Rams have a big lead against a team.

Maybe they recognize the talent but also recognize that coming from a small school he has a lot of coaching/learning to get caught up on.

Until OBj is back on the 53, McCutcheon will be the first guy dressing at WR in case of injury.

It doesn't matter where he is on the depth chart right now. But if he stays healthy I can see him as #4 WR as he can play all 3 positions. He's a willing blocker which is a requirement. He's can be a true XWR behind Robinson. He's faster and has better hands than Skowronek, and he's a willing STs player. Until he proves otherwise Tutu is a change of pace player and a gadget player. Tutu is also limited to Y & Z WR positions (i.e. off the LOS).

McCutcheon can become an absolute stud of a WR in this offense. When they go 4 WR I'm betting he will be #4. He's got the speed, size and hands to threaten in that 15-20 yard range (i.e. just like Robinson).

I love the Rams WR corps this year.

Yes. He actually said he won’t dress, in all likelihood.

Pretty sure you are referencing this interview;

His job will be to learn all 3 WR positions and learn the offense inside & out because they just may need him by the end of the yr the same way they needed Blanton, Hopkins, and Skowronek. He just needs to be better than what Skowronek offered.

Unless Skow has improved significantly from last year, I believe McClutch will surpass Skow by mid season as #5 or 6 (OBJ?) WR.
Well we just wait and see as more oppurtunity arises for him to showcase his skills. So I guess Skow is better than Atwell in the sense he is more proven. I think McClutch will surpass both in time and be more of an asset.

So the gm says McCutcheon basically a redshirt year, yet ppl were insisting to me he was no lower than 4th on wr depth chart? Interesting…..

On a more serious not: Hope the best for him but clearly lots of work to do. Wouldn’t be shocked if he passes Skow at some point

He has to get stronger and get better at beating the jam off the line.
He was shut down at times when playing against physical corners who were playing press. (The Texans game is where I noticed the press thing)
Skow will also be able to do TE type functions on certain plays.

Who should be Rams #3 or #4 WR?

Let’s see…

Atwell has speed and hands but is VERY limited as a blocker when not the target. A’ tell’ as to play call when he goes in and is susceptible to injury because of his size.

Skowronek has good size, is good blocker, and outstanding on teams but his hands are suspect. Not good in any WR. Good hands are #1 required skill set.

Jefferson is all around good WR but he still doesn’t fight for the ball well, like not even coming back for an under thrown ball which results in an interception. Maddening.

McCutcheon lacks experience but has good speed (faster than Skow), great hands, gets open quickly, tremendous ’want to’, wins virtually all contested catches, and can contribute on ST.

When I review the above, I think McCutcheon could be a helluva 3rd or 4th WR. Who knows how high his ceiling actually is as he gains experience? And I also think he would be an overwhelming mismatch for a dime CB on any opponent when McVay goes to 4 WR sets. Stafford will be licking his chops. Lol.

Yeah, I’m VERY optimistic about McCutcheon’s Ram future.

He’ll be #3 next season, I’d bet.

Kupp and the coaching staff are going to get him where he needs to be when it comes to beating press coverage and playing within the system.

Other than that, I think all the tools are there athletically and his hands and contested catch ability are absolutely going to get him playing time in the near future. I don't see how you could possibly feel more comfortable with Skow out there than this guy in crunch time
