So I guess we’re sticking with Blackburn as ST Coordinator?

I notice positive trends and when special teams help the Rams win games. Field position game and Hoecht's blocked kick loomed pretty large against the Cardinals.

You want to mope and fantasize about the neighbours dog, go ahead.

A trend is not one game. A trend in multiple games.

If you want to mope about someone calling out out the obvious instead of fantasizing about the reality of the situation, fine that’s on you.

If you want to just be a doomer about it that's fine. But it's improvement. Teams don't usually go from bottom third to top third in one season it takes work. Sorry the rest of us seem to see good signs with ST but if you don't want to nothing said will change that I guess.
Doomer? Is calling average numbers average?
:laugh4:

Sorry @OldSchool THE RAMS HAVE THE BEST SPECIAL TEAMS EVER IN THE HISTORY IF THE NFL!!

You don't want to acknowledge progress you say there's nothing good to our ST this year compared to last year. Nobody is saying they're great perfect or a finished project. Nobody is saying they're the best ST this year or best ST ever. Most everybody though is pleased with progress. Am I content with our current ST? No but I like the progress that we showed.

I agree.

Last year's teams were really terrible. Possibly dead last imho.

This year our punt coverage has been really good. Kickoff coverage is easy when you kick it out of the end zone as many times as we did. Plus we are making our field goals for the most part (Karty needs to do better on extra points).

However, our punt return is probably below average and kick return is average at best. Whittingham doesn't have enough speed to be a really good one. I do like how he makes the most of the yards that he can get without that speed. There were a couple times where if he had one more step he would have been gone.

Did I say anything to the contrary that this years numbers didn’t improve to last years? No. Simply pointed out the numbers are average to below average and in punt return.

How about you stop making up arguments in your own head and creating drama where there doesn’t need to be any?

It really is amazing how so many men can act like women.

You are the one making arguments up.

Our ST's this year were very average rank wise in the middle of the pack. Our punt return yards were dead last. Have no idea how everyone bases " ST's were awesome this year" thoughts.
Literally everybody is saying they've improved and you're arguing they're still bad. Nobody is saying we're among the best in the league. Nobody is saying they're awesome. Everybody but you seems to be pleased with the progress. We still need a return guy and a bit better blocking on return teams.

Sidetrack thought: I wonder if it's a McVay thing like with press coverage in the secondary. It comes with it risk reward and is a return guy the same way? More risk of a turnover with a more explosive return guy? His offense is getting more and more conservative is this a McVay thing?

100% on everything. I said in this thread earlier the numbers I think our PR is about 1.7 yards below league average which isn't good but we're a yard better than last year which is progress. Kick returns I think we were exactly league average or within like .1 or .2. Good enough? Not really it's acceptable but could be better.

Also for the record I looked at the rankings for best ST based on estimated PPG by team. You take the top 14, there was a tie so it went down that far, only 3 were playoff teams in Tampa, Pittsburgh and Detroit. The other 18 on this all tied for last with a 0.0 ppg gain on teams. The top had 1.3 and that was Dallas.

Going by return yard average take the top 11, top 3rd of the league roughly, and 4 are playoff teams. Punt returns looks the same, side note Detroit has really good return teams.

Another side note the WR I wanted us to draft a few years ago Ihmir Smith-Marsette is doing really good with returns but is only a 4.43 guy so it doesn't need to be blazing speed it's that short area acceleration/burst to get thru the holes. Whittington had a very similar 40 times just doesn't seem to have that quick burst.

Again I know this has been a problem
With you in the past, reading comprehension. Let’s take a look at that definition.

IMG_2174.jpeg

Okay according to the definition there let’s re-read my post.

Where in any part of it did I deny there was any improvement from 2023? Point it out.

And now you’re including other things into the conversation that had nothing to do with it originally. Literally making up your own problems in your head and adding to them trying to change the angle because you know it’s a losing argument.

Seriously, did they not focus on Reading Comprehension where you went to school? Were you home schooled which is why you are old school? Let’s talk about this for a while.

What the hell are you arguing with us for then?

Improvement over 2023 was our point from the start.

Who responded to whom? Who is arguing with whom?

The title of this thread is " So I guess we are sticking with Blackburn as the ST Coordinator"

Was it " ST's are improved from 2023"?

Stating facts is not arguing and wondering why people are toasting to average numbers is pretty mind numbing.

If our record was 8-9 at the end of the season half this board would be losing their shit, but someone simply points out our ST's posted average to below average numbers and you dudes lose your minds.

Don't make things more complicated than they are.

That wasn't an argument. You wanted to know what we were talking up our special teams. So I told you.

I bumped this thread specifically to reflect on year two under Blackburn.
If our record was 8-9 at the end of the season
It's not. And our special teams is one of the reasons why it's not.

There is my exact quote, where did I ask what you were talking about?

Obviously Tiberius.

Yeah but they sure haven't been pouring it on all season, as the average number show.
