In the NFL players often arrive on the scene then disappear once teams start scheming them. This is what happened to Tutu. He was relatively ineffective over time which is why he lost his job to Robinson.

Actually I think I was being too nice to him too. I don't think he's our fifth best wideout. Sixth is probably more accurate. Kupp is better. Nacua is better. Robinson is better. Johnson is better. Whittington is better.

Rams are just about out of rationalizations as it pertains to Tutu.
And then they don't play him in the preseason.

Fair enough. I guess at this point I'd say he's worth having as part of our 6 WRs and leave it at that.

Wonder who, if any, gets called up from practice squad if Puka is out for a while. Or if they'll ride with the 5.

I'd be surprised if it's not Xavier Smith who is called up. He offers returns as well, and was depth chart X behind Tutu in the preseason.

Would be my initial assumption as well. Looking at a preseason depth chart they had Stoops behind Puka/Johnson. Xavier was behind Robinson/Tutu. Usually I wouldn't take too much stock in depth charts with WRs but they seemed to stick to them yesterday when it came up. But who knows.

I only saw Hoecht out wide covering a receiver once which is a good thing.

I like Hoecht on the line as he was the majority of plays that he was in the game.

The DL was definitely gassed and Reeder was basically just a body on the last drive after playing the entire game.

However, other than a couple plays where I saw Reeder dragged for a few yards - he didn't do as badly against Detroit as I thought he would.

But he did screw up on a 3rd and 1 where he hit a runner a yard or two behind the line and let the runner drag him 3 yards for a first down. That one hurt because Detroit then drove down the field for a field goal.
I’ll admit I didn’t focus on Reeder or Rozeboom until late in the game. Certainly couldn’t cover Gibbs on pass plays. They probably did good until the last 2 drives when I saw a lot of skating out there. Never had a problem with Reeders effort but come on. Hes likely a PS player at best on most teams.

And he played every snap.

I repeat - we aren't going to miss Jones

Rams just have to take the kid gloves off and start Speights. They gave Reeder his start. He showed the same old player, solid but unspectacular. Now let's see if the kid can elevate shit.

One thing I mentioned in the other thread that I think matters here is that Arcuri not only is a recent cut in terms of his ability vs our linemen depth chart, but he also undoubtedly didn't get any real work leading up to this game. Probably didn't get a ton of snaps in practices either as a third string type.

Granted I am grasping at straws here. I know that. Hoping that maybe if they give the kid some snaps he can at least set his fucking feet right to be able to avoid lunging and missing at the rusher. You're big as fuck. Use that bulk kid.
I hear you, I’ve never played Pro ball but my god I just picture if he got in his way he’d at least delay him 1-2 much needed seconds more. Some of those were like a straight free rush on Staff. Idk, maybe it’s easy as an O-Linemen to be thrown off balance like that, I understand he practices at a different position but fuck. Might need to see it again.

Tutu is a waste of a roster spot at this point.
With the #5 on the depth chart OT playing LT and the QB getting rid of the ball at career high speed, there isn’t really a need for a guy who can get deep once a month

He was absolutely overmatched, but let’s not get it twisted. Three Redzone trips with three points lost the game for us.

He take the points instead of trying to out lions the lions and go for it on 4th down and it never goes to OT.

The INT was obvious. He didn’t see the defender.

Rams have to finish in the Redzone.

Deja vu.

On those snaps I'd rather have Johnson running go routes down the sideline than Tutu getting manhandled by random DB at the LOS. At least that gives Stafford an option to put the ball up and maybe get a completion or a PI.

Tutu is completely worthless. Too much is being made of him being the primary X backup. X is not his ideal spot. His ideal spot is either of the other two positions where he can start the snap on the move before he hits the LOS. He is at X because he fucking sucks and they don't want to cut him for purpose of admitting he was a bust.
I disagree he gets open I think it’s more of Stafford doesn’t like small receivers he would thrive with any other team they should just trade him if they not gone use him

The one guy that kind of surprised me in this game was Parkinson. Looks good with the ball in his hands, blocks well. More targets will help to make up for Nacua being out.

Tutu Atwell = Tavon Austin, I hope the hell the Rams have finally learned their lesson.

I’m in Seahawks territory and I think he was being underutilized in that offense. He’s always looked good with the ball in his hands, but the Seahawks had Noah Fant.

I agree 100% with this. If you key in on Tutu, he’s open quite a bit, but the Rams have kind of morphed from this Small receiver, big running back early in the McVay years into this big receiver, small running back. I truly think it has to do with the QB change. If the Rams had traded him to a team like the Chiefs, we’d all be wondering why he didn’t work out here

Bobby Brown 37 snaps out of 61. A little over half. I guess that is progress.

Two things for me re: Brown...

First I'd reduce his ass in snaps. Maybe 20 or so he can keep his lungs. Davis would get a lot more to see how he does, as with DL letting them get into the flow of the game is important to get a good look at them. In other words I don't think 11 is enough for Davis when it's Brown who is in front of him. Enough of Brown.

Second I don't know how many fronts were two DL in that game. I mean it is hard to blame them vs Detroit for going heavy on Fiske & Turner. But both those guys are 3T types who win with speed and quickness at the front end of the snap. So going with just two certainly didn't seem to work out too well vs the Detroit OL, which seemed to be locking both of them up all game long. Lesson learned from that is probably going to be more odd fronts if I had to guess how Shula reacts to it.

Also and btw I would be fine with removing Rozeboom for Davis in that regard. Now vs Arizona maybe that's not the way to go. But I think both Fiske and Turner are better served in an odd front than them being the duo on the interior. IMO that shit worked with AD & Turner but Fiske is simply not AD. And if you replace Reeder with Speights so we can see what the kid can do with a good chunk of snaps, maybe we start to see this front come into its own.
