Can Daniel Jones speak? Four years in the NFL as a starting quarterback, and I've never heard him say anything. That's kind of a talent, to be in the New York market, and be quiet as a mouse. This talent will probably help him earn another 10 million as a backup for the next few years. If he were to ever become a Ram I would just yawn, because he's boring as shit.

I'd take him as a backup if the Rams don't extend Jimmy G, for the very same reason I like Jimmy G as a backup - it is almost impossible, in a salary cap era, given how much cap space good QBs demand, to have two bonafide starters on the roster. So what you need is either a QB on a rookie contract (if he can be a future starter, so much the better), or a veteran that does not command huge dollars but has proven he can win at the NFL level in spurts. Daniel Jones and Jimmy both fit the latter description. I prefer Jimmy G as he's headed even contending teams and taken them pretty deep into the playoffs. But Daniel Jones has shown he can win games in this league, and even on meh teams. He can keep the ship afloat if the starter goes down for the short term.

Jimmy may elect to play the market. I think he's about as good a backup as you can have though so as long as he's not too pricey the Rams are probably interested in bringing him back.

Only problem with Jimmy is you know he's not your long term answer. So there is room for the Rams to look for a castoff type who brings the talent level and needs to be put back together mentally. Jones is that type of option.

I think the question is how much interest does he get. Rams aren't going to compete to sign him. But outside of that I could see them bringing him in for the workout and to get in his head about what went wrong. The decision on whether you can fix him would start with that.

FACT: The last first round QB to play 10 successful years (meaning personal success) in the NFL is Matt Stafford. The next one will be Jared Goff. Interesting no? And he will be joined a year later by Mahomes.
Yep. Don’t look now, but that “young” QB we traded away for “old man” Stafford is 30 years old.
