Well shit it’s still what? 10 days away? Still a chance for him to go.

To be fair…when you get injured and miss time, and then you return to practice, and then you have to stop practicing again because of “muscle strain”…I’m not sure what else you want to call that. It’s a setback.

Sure. I don't like how she coaxed him into saying that tho.

Or that she tweeted or Xd I guess "Sean McVay says he has a setback" to rile everyone.

No Jourdan, you got him to say that. Why couldn't she just tweet Cooper Kupp has a muscle strain. That's 100% more accurate than a sensational tweet. It bugs me because I could tell she was trying to get him to say something so she can post it and get a reaction.

It's cute how Jordan is asking pertinent football questions.

Really cute.

I watched this live. Sean McVay was basically coaxed into calling it a setback by Jourdan. I'm slowly really starting to dislike Jourdan. Fantastic reporter for actual news but now has crossed over into "sensational" reporting like this.

Bring back Dani. Hell bring back Casey Phillips.

This feels like a silly argument over semantics. Why be upset at Jourdan for calling it what it is and stating the obvious? It can only be two things. A new injury or a setback. If you strain a muscle that you just missed time for, and are now missing practice time again—what else would you like her to call it? Setback is completely accurate here.

If setback was too sensationalist, McVay woulda said so. He woulda said “nah, you know what Jourdan, we just wanna make sure we aren’t rushing him back into stuff too quickly. We are still 10 days out from the opener, he’ll be fine. Our staff has a great plan for him to make sure he’s 100%, and we look forward to seeing him out there”.

But McVay didn’t say that. He acknowledged it was a setback. Begrudgingly, yes. But he still acknowledged it. Because that’s what it is!

Jourdan has always been willing to question team decisions and report transparently. McVays job might include coachspeak. Jourdan's doesn't and shouldn't, IMHO.
Until this past year, she's had little to question, little to criticize or whatever you want to call it.

But like we know all too well, our team is the fuckin best, but not above fair questions. I've never seen her ask anything that isn't a fair question.

Furthermore- she's BY FAR the most talented and insightful reporter to follow our team that I've read over the last 25 years and I think it's sad that any decent reporter is such an easy target for suspicion of selling out for clickbait (she's been operating well above clickbait content all along).

I accept that I won't always agree with every question she asks, or opinion she shares - just like how I might not agree with every challenge or timeout call our HC makes but that doesn't mean I think McVay sucks. He's the best at his job that we've had in a very long time - even if he can annoy me at times, he's the fucking man and I love him. Staffords picks are not always my favorite but that dude is such a badass ballsack draggin baller that he's become an all-time favorite Ram anyways....
...and I look at Jourdan's work in a similar light. She's human, isn't always my cup of tea but overall I'm glad we've got her and would HATE to see her covering the 49ers.

It was definitely a response to a leading question.
Yeah, McVay was trying damn hard to minimize it, but Jourdan just wasn't having it.

As the press conference went on, it was very cordial, so it doesn't seem like Jourdan is being antagonistic (like Lindsey Thierry was, good riddance).

Bottom line, McVay seemed to imply they just don't know yet whether or not Kupp will be ready for the opener.

McVay also talked about the difference between "return to play" and "return to performance", implying that with Kupp they want to do the latter. In other words, they don't want to rush him back, they want to make sure he can go full throttle.

Yeah Jourdan is really good. I think if anything she should question the coachspeak she gets from the Rams more. Press has always had kid gloves with McVay. Also there have been a few times I thought to myself that the Rams fed her a line of BS and she went with it.

They need to think long term, and hold Cooper out week one. If they push him they could lose him for the entire season. They have the depth with Jefferson to move to Z, Puka to X and Atwell to Y. It also allows McVay to play 12 personnel with Higbee and Hopkins/Allen since TEs run Y routes. I think we will see Hopkins or Allen aligned in line or in the slot.

Because they will have a full roster of options against the Birds it makes more sense to hold Kupp out week one.

Or…we can let the doctors and Kupp decide, instead of pretending we know what his status will be on the 10th.
