In case you didn't notice, unless I'm mistaken, which I don't believe I am, the Rams are the 3rd Seed as of right now!

After Philly Beat the Hag's this week-end, and we Stomp on the Cards, we will have a 2 game lead on the Hag's before we play them again!

The Big thing is to Beat Philly the week before we meet the Hag's, then I think we are guaranteed at least the #2 Seed If not the #1!!
I'm telling you that even if we win out there are still scenarios that leave us in the 4th seed. I'm not being negative just stating facts. We still need other results to go our way to achieve a higher seed.

Here is the post from reddit...

A controlled playoff seed is the worst seed a team can get if they win out. It's possible that they could get a higher seed, but at worst they will get the controlled seed. Note that because teams play each other, these are often mutually exclusive.

Teams that control the 1 seed: PHI NE PIT

Teams that control the 2 seed: MIN

Teams that control the 3 seed: JAC TEN

Teams that control the 4 seed: ATL CAR NO SEA LAR KC OAK

Teams that control the 5 seed: None!

Teams that control the 6 seed: None!

Teams that could win out and still miss the playoffs (also known as not controlling their own destiny):
DAL WAS CHI DET GB TB ARI
BUF MIA NYJ BAL CIN HOU IND LAC DEN

Seattle has bigger concerns than us in dropping the odd game down the stretch due to their defensive injuries. That plus the one game lead we have on them makes me think we have a very good shot to win this division outright.

I don't see the Rams tanking down the stretch, so if they don't win the division it means Seattle plays lights out and practically wins out the rest of the sched. So chances are the Rams will win a wildcard as well.

If they tank they tank of course. But I don't see it. I think we have a very, very good shot at the playoffs.

Bad OLine, no run game and a weakened defensive back corps. Yeah Sheattle has problems.

I'm totally for Hawks taking out the Eagles, and furthering a shot at #1 or #2 seed.

Then the Rams take care of the Eagles, and are tied at 10-3, with Rams holding the tie breaker over Eagles.

I don't care about winning the division.

Rams at worst will be a wild card. Let's go for the gusto and try and win the Damn Super Bowl. Rams need to handle the Hawks, and the division is theirs. But, with a top seeding, chances are way better for a Super Bowl appearance!

I feel exactly opposite of this. Sorry about getting in. No way do I root for a Seahawk win. Never! A tough game would be cool to run the Eagles through the wringer before they meet the Rams.

I have confidence in this staff. I think that even if they lose to Philly, having already played the Eagles will give them the film study to come up with a plan to beat them in the playoffs.

I just don't agree with this^^^!!!
* We Beat The Jag's! ? We still have to play Tenn.!
* We have Better Records than Atl.- Car.- Sea.- KC - Oak.!
I don't see that we are considered the 4th seed and not the 3rd. and IF we Beat Philly and Win-Out, Where are we Placed!!?!

The AFC scenarios are independent of NFC. 7-9 might make playoffs in AFC where 10-6 won't in the NFC.

If the Rams and Seahawks tie, the tiebreakers are:

1. H2H: Seattle wins if they sweep, so assume we split the series
2. Division record: Assume we both go 5-1
3. Common game record. Seattle went 0-2 in non-common games, Rams went 1-1, so if we tie records, then the Rams must have a worse common game record.

Therefore, Seattle owns the tiebreakers unless they somehow drop week 17 against the Cardinals.

Rams must have a better record or else they lose the division and must fight for a wild card.

Note: This is almost certainly not going to matter, because if we win in Seattle, there is almost no chance we still tie records, and if we lose in Seattle, then they win on the first tie breaker anyway.
Common games has to be at least 4. So, the West played the NFC East and AFC South. Right now I have the Rams with 6 wins in those games to 3 wins for the Seahawks. Rams have 2 games left Seahawks have 3 left in common opponents. Rams need to beat the Eagles or the Titans or have the Seahawks lose one to the Eagles, Titans or Texans.

not that it matters, but count on the NFCS beating each other up over the last 5 weeks of the season

I hope one out of the 3 NFCS teams just chokes down the stretch. Sprinkle in a Lions upset loss somewhere and we're ok.

If Seattle’s pulls a rabbit out of their butts and beats the Eagles this Sunday the eagles go to 2 losses. If the Rams beat the Eagles the following week at home the rams have the tie breaker over philly based on record tie and head to head.

So first round bye and #2 seed is there for the taking it the Eagles aren’t careful.

We only control our own fate up to the 4th seed. (Meaning our worst case scenario if we win out is 4th seed).

Anything higher we need some results to go our way.
Not really, if we win out and the Saints do also we get the 3rd seed having beat them. Plus if the Vikings lose 2 we could get 2nd seed. Throw in Philly also losing one othe than to us we could get 1st seed. It takes help to go higher than 3rd but that seed is ours if we win out.

The more I looked into it the scenario involved us, saints, eagles, and minny finishing at 13-3 and some weird tie breakers with SOS and Conference record putting us in fourth. Not realistic so I won't worry about it.

...amazing how this is our convo week 13 of this year. Who would've thought after last year's debacle?

Yep, normally the clonly tie breakers I am checking at this point is for draft position.... who has the harder strength schedule and where that puts you in the draft order...

Great to not have to think about that.

I can almost guarantee you that the veteran players and coaches are preaching ONE-GAME-AT-A-GAME.

Tunnel vision and at the end of that tunnel is Arizona Cardinals.

As matter of fact, in honor of Glen Campbell's passing, they should start every practice with; By the Time I Get to Phoenix.

Someone did the math and it was pretty crazy, every team in this list can all finish 11/5 or 12/4, even with many remaining games against eachother:
Rams, Seahawks, Vikings, Lions, Saints, Falcons, Panthers

If the season ended today we would have the 3rd seed. So I don't get how you're getting that we don't control the 3rd seed.

Remember, we still have a game with the Titans and they play the Jags. So those are common opponents tgat will be factored in... and of course they lost to the Titans.
