You look back at some of the moves we’ve made, from letting EJ walk, to Cooper Kupp (even though I don’t totally disagree with that one but he also just sealed the game against us, ironically).

That was because of the lack of pass rush, not because of Kupp being the Kupp of old. He is slow as molasses now, so yes it was the right decision to upgrade him.

Right - but he still made clutch plays when they needed them…against us when it mattered most. Twice!

Meanwhile we have dickhead Tutu who has been utterly worthless. Would’ve been nice to have a savvy veteran out there as a 3rd WR if we weren’t going to use a guy who has speed.

Rams have the lowest paid defense in the league..... you can only do so much with that group
kind of like Schrödinger's cat...does the DC make the players look good, or do the players make the DC look good

This one stings.

Kupp and Jones going to the SB.
Don't know why we ever moved Jones, he was a big player on our D. Sure came back to bite us in the ass. We've showed a few good players the door for no known reason. Is our coaching staff's skin so thin that they replace players because of little quibbles?

Can't really blame Shula TBH. I mean, he sucked today, too, but we have ZERO stars on defense. A lot of guys are very good. No legit difference makers. Our defensive line hasn't wrecked a game in what feels like months. Our linebackers are BBQ chicken in space. Our corners can barely stay within 5 yards of their assignments. What's he supposed to do with that?

The cost of our defense isn't the problem it's the vaue of the players that is what matters. Many on our starting 11 are top 10-15 players.

Our DB's as a whole are a liability which brings us to today

If our DB's are better do we play less conservative with our blitz packages or is it because we don't blitz that our DB's are getting even more exposed..........

It is likely as unsolvable as the chicken and the egg

We will soon be a much more expensive defense, let's hope that amounts to higher value in the secondary, specifically boundary CB

I would also love an upgrade at LB, looking at you 48.

Even so we still could have won. When your defense sucks you don’t give the ball back right before half. And the muffed punt also gave them 7. As bad as the defense was, still should have won. Plus offense couldn’t score when it counted.
I've been saying it all season... if we don't score 30 plus points we have difficulty winning games

I was really hoping we would see 22 on the last few possesions to take the top of the defnse

Overall: Close but no cigar. Seahawks were the hottest team in NFL for the playoffs. However, if the Rams were able to pull this game out of their asses they likely easily out score the Pats for another SB win.
On offense: keep working towards building the perfect beast. I’m gonna assume Stafford comes back for 1 more year. If so, get him a WR that can stretch the field and take a hit (no more XSmith/Tutu BS). I’d also reinforce the OL a little bit for depth. Maybe upgrade OC (not bad but the weakest link).
On defense: it’s obvious we need some dogs at CB and ILB . I’d like a tried&true FA vet and a R1 draft pick to beef up the CBs. Draft a sideline to sideline ILB to complement Landman.
On STs: we also need some dogs and a returner worth a shot. We found a K but still need a major overhaul on our return/coverage teams.

Shula doesn't bother me. People forget 2 things and the most important is that every DC under McVay has played the same soft coverage. It's what he wants so we need to get used to it. The second is these DC's play with the players McVay gives them.

Seemed like we played more press/man in 2020 under Staley, but generally this is true. I wish McVay would change that philosophy into something a little less passive and more proactive on D. We needed the D to make something happen tonight and they couldn't.
