Defenses are stacking the line daring the Rams to pass. There is little to no room on the outside runs when there are 6 men on the line. I hope that McVay is seeing quick slants, runs up the middle and anything else that quickly penetrates the line of scrimmage will negate this scheme against the Rams. I also feel very strongly he is determined not to wear down Gurley by the 10th game of the season.

Gurley's not involved because opponents keep running a "6-1" front, thus daring McVay to pass. So far McVay has taken (to varying degrees of success) what's been given.

It will be interesting to see if and how McVay can involve Gurley given the way defenses keep playing us. I'm sure McVay's put more thought into this than any of us. Hopefully something new with the Bucs this weekend.

I can see that wheel route that Gurley loves if he spends some jugs time. Only 4 catches on 5 targets. That's the perfect route to beat the pats 6-1 . Glad Blythe is back and not much rest before and after the Thursday Night Football game in Seattle. Hope we get a dry game and Aaron Donalds sack in Cleveland made him the fastest to 60 sacks in RAMS franchise History beating HOF Kevin Greene and Kevin Carter.

He does look like he is not happy to be on the team.He has looked that way since the start of the season which is a shame.Hope shawn does something to get him to playing hard like he used too.
Gurley has always looked like that, in his press conferences after big games last year, in his Hardee's commercials. He's not usually expressive in the spotlight unless it's behind the scene stuff with the players - he may want to work on this if he wants to get in film or on TV later. His twitter and instagram is positive and all about the team, some examples below:

So is the reason to increase his workload because it appears he's moping around? what happened to saving him for the playoffs? very strange.
Its typical coach talk. Tell reporters and fans what they want to hear and do whatever da fuck he wants to do on game day. I'm surprised most fans dont already know this

Yanno .... Todd just doesn't have that burst or the recklessness he once did.
I just haven't seen it since the Dallas playoff victory.
And the line is currently under further review.
I disagree. People said the same thing in 2016, but a year later and all that talk disappeared. The explosiveness is always there, he just has to have the right play calls to get him in the open field. Getting him more involved as a receiver would be a start.

I think it is more about not getting efficent production out of him and getting out of the habit of looking for him in target's, calling his number. Them realizing it doesnt work this way. He doesnt work that way.

This is the answer, right here. You can train to and have the best run blocking wide receivers in the league, and you can even further commit to an offensive line that prioritizes run blocking, but when teams stack the line like that, and give your wide outs man coverage, you have to take advantage.

Precisely, there is no way that a coach is going to tell another coach - "Ok, so this is how I'm going to play next week. So I want you to train for that specifically so that you're really competitive against us. We're looking forward to putting on a good show for the crowd."

It makes me wonder if these are the same people who consider it a conspiracy theory when McVay states that he is trying to get the other running backs involved so that he doesn't wear Gurley out, as if that were a new thing, especially when you have three different backs capable of playing different roles for the team.

I have no complaint that TG is not playing hard.

I completely reject that view.

He is playing hard.

Anybody want to review his pass pro? It’s been stellar!

Nick Wright breaks down how Todd Gurley’s struggles have hurt the Rams offense

Nick is a turd. That guy is always picking on the Rams. Wait Nick is the guy with the hair plugs right?

But anyways, the one thing I do agree with him on is Gurely's pass catching. It's been non existent this season and the tail end of last season. Are defenses doing something different or are we? That's a good question.

I think it’s defenses taking stuff away we usually like to do. This was the one gripe I had about McVay going into the season. He plays his offense as “this is what we’re doing, try and stop it” instead of attacking the weaknesses of the defense and finding the best game plan. Of course you need an identity but it seems like we run the same 12 plays every game. That 6-1 front could be beaten by inserting a fullback and running them the fuck over. Yet we continue to trot out the same shit every week.

The Rams shouldn’t be looking for ways to beat that alignment. But more so finding what works against that team defense and how to attack it. I realize McVay does this. But there’s no reason we should still be having trouble against that specific front. If the Bucs try it, I hope McVay says fuck this and throws something completely different at them.
