It sounds like Barkley may sit this one out.
I'd heard that on Facebook, but no link to a reliable source, so I wasn't sure if it was just bullshit.

I admire the Eagles for doing this and him for taking it in his stride if it happens because it's a big record, despite him having an extra game.

I'm strangely protective of this record. Normally, stuff like this doesn't bother me, but seeing as the first ever game watching the Rams on TV was the playoff win over the Cowboys when Eric romped for 248 yards, I don't want it broken.

I love SJ and MF and also Gurley., but ED was so fucking majestic that he was my favourite to watch.

Eric the Great always looked like he was running effortlessly---even when he was giving it everything he had. He even used to fool his coaches, who sometimes thought he wasn't running as hard as he could.

You know what...too f'ing bad Saquon...

For weeks now, you knew your team would be heading to the playoffs and had a high chance of resting starters week #18. If you really wanted the record, you and your oline should have got it done by this last week, week #17.

You didn't...boohoo! So sad, too bad!

Yay for Dickerson! 2,105 Lives On!

I have nothing but respect for Saquon. Chances are PHI won’t make SB so he should have had a chance for the record. Plus IMO Siriani is a dirtbag.

It seemed that way to me, as well. I loved Earl Campbell back in the day and he seemed to be running his @ss off and Dickerson just seemed to be gliding. I know more now than I did then and ED was great.

With the Rams strong tradition of having great running backs over the years, I selfishly want to keep this record with ED, sorry Saquan...sorta. lol

If I was the coach I'd play Saquon to let him get that record. The moment he gets it he sits. And if he gets hurt I'd take the criticism too. But for me a record like that is worth the risk.

All that aside I am very glad he won't get it.

Only a fool would play your prized RB who has prior injury issues for a meaningless game when you have four more game left in your SB intention and you have your QB out with a concussion.
I expect Siriani to have him play ;)

Yeah I had on the shocked face emoji when it was announced. I would've tried to break it. But I can see Vulcan logic here.

Back in 1984 no starters sat for the 16th game after Dickerson broke it in the 15th. That whole "rest your starters the last game" stuff started when... 2017?

I remember Warner got hurt vs the Falcons in the final 2001 game and had to wear that ugly hybrid facemask in the playoffs after he got hit in the throat. Also in the final seconds they called an end around with him as the lead blocker. Times sure have changed.

If he was 50 yards away - they may have gone for it … 100 is not only dressing and being active - but it is a full day’s work

Still - I’m surprised they aren’t going for it - because they very likely would have gotten it. But this way - not only can he rest, so can the O Line.

They still might.

Well, although the Giants suck, I can guarantee they would put 8 in the box to try to stop him and not care if they are one on one with their WRs.

Eagles message board did a poll, fans are split 60-40 in favor of letting Saquon play.

Saquon sounds down about the decision to rest.

My favorite take:

Eagles rest Saquon & loses in the 1st: “SEE!, Eagles should have just played him"

Eagles play Saquon & loses in the first: “SEE!, they shouldn’t have played him”

Eagles rest Saquon & win in the 1st: “SEE! , that’s why we didn’t play him”

Eagles play Saquon & win in the first: “SEE!, it didn’t even matter”

..

The giants will sell out to stop him if he plays. They don't care about losing, as long as he doesn't beat them. They won't care if Pickett throws for 500 yards and 5 tds.

I have to say, it would be pretty selfish of Barkley if he made his oline play and put them in harms way just to break an individual record. Unless he wants to try it with the backup oline.
