Good. I like Samson. But I'd feel more comfortable if we had a veteran to platoon with him.

Three things occur to me about this...

1) Vinny has always struck me as a well connected beat reporter with no BS in him, so why should we doubt this out-of-hand?

2) If Wade likes Ebu this much, who am I to tell him that he’s wrong? Lol.

3) If Ebu becomes a starting OLB in his second year, then S&M had an even more remarkable draft than at first thought. And/or someone did a helluva job coaching the kid up.

Risky plan.
He was ok, has to get better.
Could not contain on outside runs and was inconsistent as a pass rusher.

Right.
Samson didn't show an ability to do it down in and down out last year.
Doesn't mean he won't improve however.

Samson played 32 % of snaps last year plus special teams. He does have to get better. I watched a video on him working out and listening to his passion. He is the type that does NOT stop trying to get better. He got some good reps in last year. He was just ok but, the hope is he grows from last year. Just like last year there will be rotation of players.

Still a long way till opening game.

Didn’t he miss most of train camp as a rookie as well ?

I’m not saying he is going to be a started , but he is on the depth chart as of now.

Yeah, I'm fine with Sampson as strongside OLB. We still need a weakside OLB pass rusher. And we still need depth. That's two players at least.

No one was taking Reynolds much until McVay had his presser.
T. Smart played how many % of the defensive snaps ? He works out so hard on his craft. He will only get better with that kind of a work ethic.
Even Rodgers will be brought back.
Everett is going to have a break out season , now that Sammy is gone.(Tavon ?)
I’m still wondering how good Ejuan Price is going to be . Who knows if he isn’t even a starter. Far fetch ,but has solid skill.

The Rams have things in place now better than before , so they will bring in some more talent to compete.

The Rams organization is not about fantasy, they make real moves that usually better themselves.

Just thinking the same thing....didn't we all see the last SF game?

I agree with you two......but also think we can survive with a guy here or there. We may even have a budding superstar in Ebukam, but I dont see many who are predicting that. He's from Nigeria and I dont know his playing history but I do know he attented high school in America. He may not have reached his plateau and lightening could strike....but as a rule, our backups are backups for a reason.

When you throw a bunch of back ups into a game who've never been in that position before, plus are not use to being on the field together, and have not built any chemistry with each other, you really can't judge any of them based on that one game.
Also, after all these years in football, and consistently building top defenses, I'm pretty sure coach Wade knows exactly what he has in Ebukam.

This was rather obvious by the fact that we drafted him in the 4th round last year and gave him some PT this year.

I always had him and Longacre holding down one OLB spot.

This is who my boss suggested would be the starter this season. For what it's worth of course but he does know defense.

I really think we'll see a step forward with Tanziel this year. I get the feeling that guy is hungry as hell. With AD next to him he has a mentor, a mountain to look up to and emulate. He was nowhere near as polished as AD coming out of college, he had to work on technique, strength etc. but with that being said he still has that little man leverage AD does. Imagine if we had a mini AD come in to relieve Brockers? would be nice!
