Giving this it's own thread because there's already been much talk about the possibility and how he should come back to the Rams to solidify a guard spot. Personally love the idea as I'm sure most would but it's gotta be at a cap friendly deal so we'll see if Snead and McVay think it should happen.

Agree OldSchool. He's so solid and would definitely upgrade the position if we could make it work.

EDIT- Didn't realize the injury issues/concern. In that case would have to ensure health first.

I get the injury concerns but I’m ok with the signing because I trust McVay and Carberry to have depth more than I did Fisher. I would still draft a guard even if we sign him because he’s obviously not a long term solution.

If we brought him in, I'd hope it'd be a very team friendly, ring chasing deal. Injuries and his miles are worrisome.

I would love to see Saffold come back!! He was one of those I was really bummed about when he left, he such a stand-up guy. Come back home big guy!! For a good price of course.

I saw he was being released. If we could get him on the cheap…would be great to bring him home and let him compete. I don’t know his health situation, but if its good…I would be very PRO this move

I wouldn't sign him. Rams need a guy that can play 17+ games. I don't see him making it that long.

I think I'd rather have a healthy Saffold than a healthy Corbett

Big fan of Saff's physical approach and game. This would work beautifully if they like Jackson at LT. Slide Edwards to RG and Corbs to center and mash that ground game.
Jourdan claims the Rams really want to retain Allen. Plus Stafford likes working with him.

Maybe Corbs is the odd man out

No way I’m keeping Corbett to play center. He is not experienced there and Allen would be a better keep of the two.

If Jackson is the LT, we could do worse than signing Saffold, Allen and Shelton.

Sometimes I type one thing and mean another apparently. Meant to say Shelton there.

Safforld's age is showing, he's clearly in decline.

I still think Noteboom will be LT and Jackson will be RT. The Rams will sign Noteboom because they know how hard it is to find a good LT. Terron Armstead was drafted in the 3rd round and turned out to be a 3 time pro bowler. Boom likewise was drafted in the third round and has looked every bit as good. It would be a colossal mistake not re-sign him.

BTW Armstead is a FA this year but he will cost them a lot more than Joe. I say pay the man and the Rams will have their LT for the next 10 years. Allen had a breakout year and will get better this coming season. These two are the linchpins of the OL. Jackson has shown he should be ready by September. They can't afford all pros at all positions so Corbett is a servicable OG. Edwards is the clear weak link so they should focus on replacing him. Shelton is the obvious choice as he also provides them with a backup center. Move Corbett back to LG where he played better than at RG and move Shelton into RG. Now draft 2 OGs behind them. Edwards can play as a swing OT where he belongs.

If Saffold had stayed with the Rams, he'd be sporting a super bowl 56 ring.

Boom has played well in spots for the Rams but he's been sort of injury prone so I'd be worried if he were named the staring LT for the Rams. I'm not sure but did Whitworth actually retire or does he want to "run it back" with the rest?

According to Jourdan Rodrigue the Rams are going to wait and see on Noteboom. She as well as many others are expecting him to get offered more than the Rams are going to be willing to. They won't get into a bidding war for him.

Either that means they are comfortable with Edwards or Aleric Jackson at OLT or they have their eye on another option. I hope AJ has shown enough development to make them think he's ready, or that Whit returns. Noteboom could possibly net them a decent comp pick and Jackson could be a nice cheap option for a few years

Interesting bit there by Jourdan. If they are letting him test the water, that says something.

Never miss a chance to tell us Hav will be cut. I'm almost at the point where I want him to be cut just so he can do a victory lap and go streaking in the quad. My goodness the effort put into hoping something will happen that should never happen is impressive.
