Personally, I'm not surprised by the trade. I think Lock is their backup QB plan. Depending upon Watson's legal status they might make a shot at him. They now have the 3 first round picks to make it happen. That said I think they also know that next year's QB draft is looking pretty good. So signing a bridge QB like Bridgewater or McCoy to carry them for a year or two while they rebuild and draft their next franchise QB this year or next would make sense. Cutting Bobby Wagner is another sign the Hawks are in total rebuild mode.
What a year. Not only did we win the Super Bowl but it seems like we made every other team in the division question everything and self destruct.
To be fair... I'm not sure what the exact cost should be in a trade but it's hard to put a price tag on a top 5 QB who has managed to play that way pretty consistently over the last decade even with one of the worst OLs in the NFL over his entire career.
I hated to speak well of the guy when he was a Hag but that team hit a goldmine in 2012 and will now likely sink back into mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Hard to say how many first round picks and/or players it should take to be able to swallow that pill.
