Hmmm, and we were lead to believe we should have traded for him...

If the Rams really want him, it's likely better to trade a 7th instead of hoping he wants to sign with the Rams instead of another team. That's why I'm a big advocate of a team keeping their 7th or picking up another so they have one or two during preseason - just in case.

Some other interesting cuts that I saw:
DE Bronson Kaufusi
WR Corey Coleman
DT Carl Davis
OLB Lorenzo Mauldin
TE Blake Bell
TE Darren Waller
DT Andrew Brown
QB Logan Woodside
CB KeiVarae Russell
DT Caleb Brantley
OLB Jeff Holland
LB Vince Biegel
CB Tony Lippett
CB Cyrus Jones

Tomorrow should be fun.

Biegel, Holland, Edwards, Means, and Attaochu are the names I’m most interested in.

Every Steelers fan I've had interaction with couldn't wait to see the back of him.

3-2 record as a starter. Solid overall stats. I certainly wouldn't want him playing, but he inspires more confidence in me than Mannion. If he did step in for 3 or 4 games, I think we could beat the teams we should beat with him at the helm. Obviously, the ideal scenario is that Goff never gets injured, but we need to be prepared if he does. I'd like to see us draft or bring in and develop a young QB, but that's unlikely to happen this year. Keep Jones for a year and then make a move after the season to try and get somebody better.

Well seems like McVay will just roll w/ the dudes that know the playbook and keep their fingers crossed, mean while the scouting department will be triple checking the kids this season!

It's very funny that people want to give Mannion time to maybe show more. Yet don't want to give a guy like Landry Jones time even though he's already shown more than Mannion :) Just like people want to cut Pharoah after one bad game in a Pro Bowl season and give somebody else who's never shown it in a real game his spot.

I posted that as well, every time I watched Landry Jones he was not good (really sucked). @jrry32 pointed out the numbers, sorry counselor I know what I witnessed and I'm not changing my testimony.

Well, for one thing, in actual NFL games Mannion QB rating is 65.0 while Landry Jones is 86.2...
Here is problem with trying to judge Mannion at this point. All of his work comes with an *.
Pre season, mop up time and one start which was treated like a pre season game by the Rams.
To get a real judge of what his potential is as a starter he would need a series of actual starts.
Meaning, getting to do what starters do.
Getting to contribute to the game plan, working all week in practice with the ones, having time to develop a rhythem with the starting receivers.
Then, given time to use that week in a game, learn, and donit again. Really, 6-8 consecutive starts I would think.
What I've seen of Jones he has potential but was limited. The first couple of games the play calling was so limited it gave little chance of success. The play calling loosened up a little after that. Jones was solid. At this point hard to tell if Mannion would better after a series of starts or not.

Yeah, unfortunately there just isn't time to give him a "fair" chance. What we do know is that he's never actually grabbed hold of the unfair chances he's been given - which are the type of chances that backups generally get. Yet some backups do grab their chances and succeed.

At this point, the Rams need to get somebody who may or may not be better, but who actually has shown a tiny bit of ability to produce in actual game situations. Next year they will hopefully sign a better vet backup and draft a mid-round rookie that McVay thinks can be groomed up to become a decent backup. Right now though, the Rams need a #2 who can actually function as a starter for a game or two, and take just a tiny bit of pressure off of Gurley and the defense.

Yeah.
Very limited choices.
This usually would mean a vet that has meaningful starting experience.
Those don't come cheap however.
