I keep waiting for someone to propose bringing Bradford in next year to back up Goff.

Another major difference to my eye at least is mental toughness. Sam gets down on himself when he gets pressure and makes mistakes, whereas Jared keeps on truckin. I think that is Sam's biggest problem tbh, and it is seen through his behaviors in decision making when things go south on him and he turns into Captain Checkdown.

QB is a tough position man. These guys have to be mentally resilient to handle it. Like I've mentioned before in a flag football league Sam would probably be a Hall of Fame player.

I think some of that might have to do with their respective college careers. JMFG (Jared something something Goff) had to undergo a lot of shinola and was surrounded by an inferior supporting cast at Cal, particularly in his freshman year. It helped forge some mental toughness, and probably contributed to development of his footwork in avoiding the rush.

Sam at OU, on the other hand, rarely felt pressure, played in very clean pockets and had a good supporting cast during the entirety of his college career. He never faced much adversity on the field, and it showed when he faced it on the field in the pros.

Yeah, you can't underestimate what bad coaching did to him.

I would say he had a chance in Spags offense when Schirmer was a coordinator and it was all downhill from there under Jeff Fisher.

Another quarterbacks career almost destroyed by Jeff Fisher.

I wonder if Jeff has figured out that no one is calling him for a coaching position - ever.
I'd call him to coach my defense. Trouble is i suspect he wouldn't take that call because his ego wouldn't let him. Mistake on his part IMO.

Josh Rosen named starting quarterback for Arizona Cardinals
During Monday's news conference in Tempe, Arizona Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks announced a switch at quarterback.

Wilks said rookie Josh Rosen will start Sunday.

"Looking at the situation and evaluating the film,
evaluating the quarterback position, I’ve decided that Josh Rosen will be our starter going forward," Wilks said.

Wilks made the decision Monday morning, before telling both quarterbacks and the rest of the team. Wilks also said this is not just a one-game trial for Rosen.

“Josh is our starter, and this is his job to lose," Wilks said.

Rosen came into Sunday's game vs. the Bears with 4:31 left. He completed four of his seven passes for 36 yards in his NFL debut. He also had a pass intercepted and was sacked on the final play of the game.

Sam Bradford threw two first-quarter touchdowns but was pulled from the game after going 13-for-19 for 157 yards, with his last three drives ending in turnovers, with two interceptions and a fumble.

"When you look at the last possession when we got that fumble, it was about 11 (minutes) and change left on the clock. At that particular time, I made the decision," Wilks said on the in-game switch.

"They went on a seven-minute drive right there, so it looked like Josh was thrown in at the end, but he wasn’t. He can handle those types of situations. I think he handled it well when he went in. Commanded the huddle, did a great job moving the ball."

In two preseason games, Rosen completed 16 of 29 passes for 148 yards with one touchdown.

The Cardinals (0-3) host the Seattle Seahawks (1-2) at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. Arizona has not started a season worse since moving to the Valley in 1988

With the Cleveland Browns' announcement on Monday that rookie Baker Mayfield is the new starter there, four of the five quarterbacks selected in the last NFL draft are set to start this weekend, including Sam Darnold with the Jets and Josh Allen with the Bills.

Mayfield was the first pick, Darnold went third, Allen went seventh and Rosen was 10th pick of the first round. The Ravens selected Lamar Jackson with the final pick in the first round.

In the last week, those rookies have injected new energy into their teams, particularly Mayfield who led the Browns to their first win since 2016. Wilks thinks Rosen can have a similar effect in Arizona.

"Josh plays with a lot of confidence. I think he gives us an opportunity to be successful," Wilks said.

Well, that didn't take long. Never has with Bradford. But, i think this is the 1st time being benched in his career, non injury.

He didn't look himself this year at all. Maybe he was just rusty after not playing last year hardly at all, or maybe he was just playing scared.

Even after they cut him, his cap hit next year will be $5 million. Tom Condon is a heck of an agent.

I think he saw the writing on the wall when Rosen fell to them. That kid can ball, and unlike Sam actually has balls in the figurative sense, so IMO it was just a matter of time.

In the years ahead the NFC West will be much better than most divisions in terms of QB quality. It's gonna be fun.

I think the game has passed him by, personally.

If he can't figure out how a modern offense works, how would he be able to stop one?

Yup, he's the richest underachiever in NFL history.

IMO, Both he and Goff are similar in that they both can achieve with a clean pocket w/ an excellent LT. But I continue to believe neither are the type of play makers able to carry the team when necessary i.e., Rogers, Brees, Luck, Wilson, possibly Wentz, etc. Although to be fair, it's not yet clear just how high Goff's ceiling will become, but the eye test just isn't there at the moment.

You can say that about a lot of guys, and have you seen Rogers and Luck lately? Not the same guys after injury. And as for comparing Goff and Sam, Goff is what Sam should’ve been without injury. I don’t really get the comparison to guys like Rogers and Brees, these are 2 of the greatest to ever play and being a hall of famer isn’t a requirement for winning a ring just ask Foles. Don’t forget this is Goff’s 3rd year and it’s starting off pretty well, and Goff can’t “carry the team”,based on his rookie year with Fisher? Jeff Fisher had Case Keenum ,Nick Foles and Goff as his qbs and none of them were seen as starting material, and now you have a SB mvp, a trip to the nfc championship and a pro bowl nod.
Goff needs to be supported, well so does Aaron Rogers. He needs talent around him, well so does Tom Brady. The pats defense couldn’t get off the field to get Brady the ball, and they had no run game and no one who could catch a pass. So even the greatest qb of all time needs his supporting cast.

Luck is done. Looks exactly like Peyton after the neck issues, but it is so much earlier in his career. He needs to retire.

Amazed how people still make excuses for him. He was over rated coming out of college and has under performed as a pro. It happens. He just didn’t have it.
Won’t be the last either.

I think this is a mistake. The entire Az offense has been dreadful - I’m not sure I’d want to throw the rook in there right now.

Heard that last year and he still persisted, can see him having a place as a backup QB or stopgap getting close to the vet minimum if he's willing to take a pay cut.

You can bet he will cash any checks offered to him.
