Well... my son and his friend entered that Crappie Fishing tournament last Saturday. There were 300 boats. It started very early Saturday morning and ended early that afternoon. Each boat was trying to catch 5 fish that had the total highest weight or the single largest fish.

They called me from their boat that afternoon as they were headed in for the weigh-in. They were confident they had the biggest single fish and the highest total weight of 5 fish. Turns out... they came in second place on both. Still nothing to sneeze at... they did awesome.

Their biggest was this fish on the right. It was over 16" long and was almost 3 pounds.

Their 5 fish total weight was just under 9 pounds.

The 1place winners beat them on both by just the smallest of margins.

My son and his friend released their fish after the weigh-in. They didn't want those big girls taken outta the gene pool.
Looks like he's ready to go out hunting.

It was freaking artic cold that morning (in the 40's)... so he wore his duck hunting overalls because they're super warm. LOL

He did just get those fishing boots though... and he wanted the camo colored ones. Those boots are super comfortable.

My twins caught that fish with a group of their HS friends over the weekend. One of their surfer friends made this video of it. It's hilarious to me but it's pretty cool too.

That yellow edge grouper was 1 pound less than the record. Crazy big for that species.

All I asked those little shitheads to do for me was save me the head and collar of it. Fuckers told me they couldn't cut through the backbone of that beast even with my big serrated fish knife. I think I believe em. Kinda bummed though cause I wanted to fry that whole head.

I qouted myself just in case you missed the video of my boys catching the gigantic Yellow Edge Grouper.

Yesterday one of my twins tells me that there's a giant crate being delivered at my house for him and he'll be there to get it after he gets off work. He had that beast mounted. It came out very nice too...

One of my son's good friends is over in The 808 (HI) right now. His mom grew up there like I did which is why they are over there just for a couple of weeks. All this friend of his cares about in life is fishing.

He walked down to the local boat ramp yesterday morning and nabbed this GT. He was so excited he called my son screaming bloody murder. You can see the excitement all over his face.

So cool that he caught it on that big top water popper. One of the hardest fighters on the planet.

My sons were down in the Keys and the Dry Tortugas last week. One of them picked up a skull mount of a big Mutton snapper we caught last summer. It takes time for the bones and all to be prepared and put back together... so he really couldn't pick it up until now. I think these skull mounts are very cool. Especially the ones with bigger teeth.

That’s very cool. I did the same kind of thing with one of my wife’s Mulies and one of mine. I also did it with the Antelope I shot last year. It’s called a European mount in hunting circles. The other nice thing about it is there is no fur for dust to collect in.

An edit though. A European mount is much simpler though. There’s no disassembly and reassembly involved unless some teeth fall out. It’s a much simpler process from what I can tell.
