I'm not a stat guy.

I do know that Opie was being forced to use a different offensive system last year. I believe that had a bunch to do with his stat line too.

I'm into watching the play on the field though... and even in his current deminished state I believe he is just light years better than Case.

I still think Opie will just retire,,, but if not,,, I will be hoping for him to sign with us. And I could give a crap if we have to pay him as much as Bradford or more for a year or 2. He's worth every penny in this world of the ever so elusive NFL caliber QB.

The only part I disagree with is the for me he didnt pass the eyeball test either. I would not be shocked if he does a Favre type retirement though lol, but he barely made it through last year and got a SB win out of the deal. Hard to top that.

Goodbye deep ball? Not that we had that much going on in that area anyway. Just saying...

Guys... I realize he isn't what he once was physically. But he is still a better option than all others I've seen. My eyeballs have been keenly focused on QBs for long enough now LOL.

Nobody matches him mentally. Not enough credit can be given to that part of the game. Especially at QB.

Mark me down as an Opie supporter please.

I'd much rather go with a drafted QB or a different free agent QB like Fitzpatrick.

If management is determined to go with a veteran option and avoid the draft route, I will say I would at leat prefer Manning to going with what we have now in house (which I am scared is something Snisher is actually contemplating). He's definitely better than Foles. He might not be much better than Keenum but at least he has the experience to mentor Mannion, knows what it takes to win, and he can audible as good as anyone in the game.

The one positive would be that he might be able to teach Boras a few things and a young QB for that matter... whether it is Mannion or a rookie.

We do not need to pay that kind of salary to find a mentor to develop Mannion. Aren't we paying coaches to do that?

Our coaches? Who traded for Foles and allowed him to be extended before the season?

Have you counted how many failed QBs Fisher and company have put on the field with the Rams?

So Larry Brown sports is citing a bleacher report guy claiming anonymous league officials say something? I'll check back when somebody credible cites this.

Bleached report has improved in credibility over the years. They attend the events and get press passes just like the rest of the news outlets. They have guys talking to scouts and get former players writing articles. It isn't like 5 years ago when high school kids were writing opinion pieces for them.

RamzFanz you have been all over the news today! great work
but the Folds signing was a good bet that just went horribly wrong - no need to blame them for trying to get that "bridge" QB we are all begging for until Mannion is ready to turn into a HOF'er

inb4 the "he's washed up!" crowd.

BTW, what we've trotted out there for the past 8 years.... How's that been working out?

Point well taken. Then again, I recall when the Rams trotted out Namath for his final season....it wasn't pretty, watching a guy who looked like he was playing on stilts. Obviously Manning's knees are fine enough, but his declining skills are apparent and one would assume next season won't be any better. So what's the point, put someone out there who will only play a year and break someone else in the next season? I see the marketing aspect, but what would it do to advance the team for the future?

Ironically, the guys still better than anything they already have as a game manager.............what am I saying?

I would like to remind all of you that we have an Adam Gase protege in house. You know, the guy that got Manning all those TD's in Denver.

LA needs to start off with a bang. Manning hasn't won less then 10 games in like 12 years. The man knows how to win. Regardless of his defense, he still made plays to win games. Like he's done his whole career.

Just for reference Mannings record in those starts was 8-2, Foles record was 4-7.

Peyton, please retire. You're an incredible player but you looked done in 2015. Don't make the mistake Favre did.

I don't see how anyone would be opposed to this.

We have had horrible QB play for many years.. what's there to lose with bringing in a HOF QB at the end of his career? If he plays bad, it was still worth a shot.

I don't see it happening as I think he'll retire.... but I suppose you never know.

If he plays badly, it's hard to bench Peyton Manning. What's there to lose? A lot to lose if Peyton plays like he did during the 2015 regular season.

We have a young team. We have a great shot at getting a talented young QB this year. Let's do that and set ourselves up for a dynasty.

I would put the blame on the Foles trade on the Rams front office under the advisement of Snead and Fisher. Who aren't directly coaching the QB position for the Rams, and it's a good thing because that's way below their pay grade. The "sign Manning so he can teach our young" rhetoric is insane. You want to hire the guy for his offensive mind? Then do it. Don't hire him under the guise that he is going to give us that offensive spark we have been waiting to see, because it just isn't going to happen.

I don't have to count the failed QB's under their watch, but I know a good majority of them was waiting for Bradford to stay healthy. Chip Kelly shined up an old pair of shoes and sold it to us. Shame on us. What if Foles does make it back though? What if Keenum is everything Fisher thinks he is? What if their is something to Mannion and he can be an NFL QB. Two of those questions intrigue me more than Manning as our next QB.

Extending Foles was a necessary demon, or as they thought it was at the time. If he played lights out and got us to the playoffs, he'd be costing a lot more right about now.

I hear you. I would also rather get a young QB and hope he's our future.. but if we don't get that guy and our guy is Kennum/Foles/Mannion - Peyton should be a consideration if available.
