Respectfully disagree. I see Havenstein and Blythe as weak links in our O-line, and if Havenstein can get us a mid-round draft pick, I'd gladly do it. We have the depth to absorb his and Blythe's loss, and that's not even counting a draft pick or two.

I don't see that at all. Havenstein is a top 10 player at his position and arguably our best run blocker.

I'd put Edwards ahead of Havenstein as a run blocker, but I agree with your overall point. I'm not concerned about Havenstein's run-blocking, but the fact that he has a wealthy contract while being a mediocre pass-blocker at best. He's struggled mightily against top pass-rushers, which concerns me.

The offensive line class is quite strong this year, so I'd look to replace him via the draft with a mid-round pick we can get for him. I'm thinking the Bengals because of the Zac Taylor connection, the fact that they'll be left out of the Sewell competition, and that their right tackle acquisition in free agency - Bobby Hart - was a ginormous bust.

As long as the Bengals don't win another game, they'll get Sewell. And I disagree that Hav is a mediocre pass blocker. Some speed guys get the better of him if we don't give him help, but he's a RT. That's typical. Noteboom is a better pass protector, but he's a massive step down as a run blocker. I don't see the value in shipping out Havenstein. Noteboom should replace Whitworth. Pass protection is more valuable at LT. And I think it's quite optimistic to think we can land a top 10 RT with a mid-round pick. That's quite hard to do.

That's a possibility, but I'm wondering if the Jets decide to take Sewell (BPA after Lawrence, in my honest opinion; he's one of the better left tackles I've seen in college in the last ten years) and go for a quarterback (maybe Mac Jones, maybe Kyle Trask) in the second round.

I disagree with your disagreement. Havenstein has struggled with a lot of pass-rushers, often because we don't give him help. I'd rather have that help be running routes, so I'd rely on a pass-protector at that spot with little help.

I'm thinking...Whitworth - if he doesn't retire - moves to right tackle with Noteboom at left, with a highly-drafted player waiting in the wings. And you still have Evans or Brewer, along with draft picks, if he does retire, especially if you move Corbett to center.

I just see a lot of potential in moving Havenstein, especially for a pick, given that we're really lacking in picks, and have a lot of needs as it is. And aside from that, it's not unprecedented to see players from the mid-rounds become great offensive linemen.

I'd rather have Whitworth and Havenstein starting. I don't value draft picks like you do. I'd rather have a top 10 RT than a mid-round draft pick. The issue for me isn't whether it's possible to draft a great RT. It's whether it's probable, and the answer is that it isn't. I also don't buy the Jets taking Sewell. They already have Becton.

I'd wager the Jets will try to trade down, but they won't get a King's Ransom for the pick unless it's a big move.

Unless the OSU QB goes gangbusters in the next 2 games, he may not even go #2 overall.

I think they trade down and continue to stockpile picks.

And I will leave it to the Jets to find the busts in the 1st round. They're truffle hunters like that... they can dig up the best of the busts...

Maybe they're busts because they go to the Jets.
