Am I the only one that felt like Reeder missed a lot of tackles yesterday? Also, it seemed like when he did make tackles, he ended up falling backwards giving up a few extra yards. On his tacking, I don't know if he had his head in the wrong position or what, but it looked like he was trying to wrap up, but his arms would fly open after contact.

Disclaimer: I haven't re-watched the game, and my in game analysis could be completely off, but it certainly felt like that. Has anyone seen the missed tackle stats for the game?

PS, I am not trying to shit on the guy, I think he does pretty well for a backup, most of the time. In fact, he had a very nice, very important pass break up during the game.

I just posted that Reeder flailed on an all important 3rd down and 3 run by Gore.

He had a really bad game imho.

I think if we had Micah Kiser that game - we win because his awareness on the short passes to the RBs is so much better than Reeders.

And Darnold was killing us with the short passes to the RBs & TEs for most of the game.

The Jets averaged three yards a carry and didn't even have a hundred yards rushing total.

I've wanted them to get a true run-stopping middle linebacker type high in the draft for years but I think trying to blame this loss in any shape, form or fashion on Troy Reeder is a reach.

The loss isn't on Reeder but they certainly schemed against him at times. He is what he is, a backup mlb. He has ok speed and ability but he lacks any change of direction ability which gets him killed if he over pursues or gets caught out of position.

I don't remember when now because I tried to burn the game out of memory with alcohol last night but there was a really important down where 60 year old Frank Gore does the slowest cut at LOS by a RB ever and Reeder tries to adjust and looks like his feet are in concrete while Gore slowly cuts right back past him. Was painful to watch.

So anyway, Reeder has some strengths which he has showcased at times but also has some very serious limitations, change of direction ability being his worst problem.

Yeah but his awareness on the short passes is just terrible. And it was the short passes that killed us. Kiser is so much better on those types of plays.

That is the play that I am referring to.

Loss isn't on Reeder, but the Jets def looked across the line and did that Waterboy, "there's my bitch"

They ran play after play at him with enough success to keep doing it.

AD at the end getting run out of plays was clearly him getting frustrated and trying to do too much. And he had every right to be frustrated as well.

I feel so bad for AD when games like this happen, he gets do frustrated because his teammates don't come to play or play down to their competition. I blame a lot on Staley's game plan. Its like they decided to play really soft in the secondary hoping Darnold would commit a turnover. Very frustrating to watch

I was specifically referring to his tackling because that's what the OP was talking about.

I noticed the same. They also were attacking him in the passing game.

Staley's scheme is typically soft. My biggest problem is it seemed like we played a lot more M2M than normal early in the game and that led to coverage busts. But it's also possible that we were playing zone and we busted. I'm not sure. We're so aggressive with zone that it can look like M2M at times. My biggest frustration was how little blitzing we did with Darnold until late in the game.

Darnold escaped Donald's grasp a couple times as well. Nobody on the D played a stellar game

There were two pass plays where the WR was so ridiculously open

Yeah - I told my wife

Donald usually doesn't lose the QB when he has him in his sights like that.

I think Donald was so frustrated with the play of others that he went into overdrive and was just a tad off himself.

Brockers seemed to play well though.

Lol. You're in my wheel house. I had typed "except Brockers" but removed it before I submitted it. Didnt feel like giving anyone credit. Haha
