I was on business at the Peabody (it hInk) in Nashville at a conference and contrived an appointment in Minneapolis so that I could get to a Rams game. I'd previously planned this and I honestly can't remember how I did it now, but I already had a ticket!I‘m intrigued, what happened?
That was the 1985 season during the playoffs and Landeta completely whiffed on a punt in Chicago and the Giants lost 21-0 to the Bears.I probably prefer the Cards to the Bears just because of that game when I naively thought we could stop the 46 D and they shut us out.
Something happened in that game with a Sean Landetta punt that was bad luck for us (I think) but I can't remember what it was now. Does anybody remember?
Everett was 0-3 vs Vikings in the 80s.It was the game where we lost to a safety in OT, when JE was sacked.
Late 80s' maybe?
What if the refs called the face mask on third down? Rams would have had fresh set of downs and first and goal. Not really. Go back and look at the play. Williams was in a position to make a play on the ball to either PD it or INT. A FG would have kept it at a one-possession game.
The real reason they lost is because of Kliff going for it on 4th downs twice and not taking the easy points. Had he done so they would have had 6 more points. Kliff is a poor game manager, always has been.
I give Kyler one maybe two more years before he's so banged up he's done. He's going to feel that continuing as a running NFL QB is truly sacrificing his health and MLB option. MLB is going to start looking better all the time. Kyler told Kliff he needed to become a pocket passer, and he has done so more this year. That said throwing from the pocket is not the same as being a pocket passer who reads defenses.
That game had a lot of moving parts with a whole lot of what if's. The Rams easily could have had an INT in the end zone taking away a score. But Williams couldn't hold on. So playing the what-if game doesn't work unless you include all the what-ifs.
It beggars belief that the refs didn't see the facemask. Stafford's head went full 90 degrees and the helmet went >100 degrees to where his nose was practically poking out the earhole. A Rams player even grazes an opponent's facemask, 7 flags fly instantly. There is literally and actually one official whose sole job is to watch what happens to the QB every second of every play. What if the refs called the face mask on third down? Rams would have had fresh set of downs and first and goal.
Vikings were down 21-18 in the 4th when a FG sent it into OT, which could explain why that pussy fake fan left early.
Cardinals?
Seahawks?
Niners?
Niners are currently and have been the oldest and biggest rival of the Rams.
Seahawks were the biggest rival of the St. Louis Rams
Cardinals were the first St. Louis team and I actually enjoyed watching them when they were in the 5 team NFC East. Jim Hart, Don Coryell, Jim Hanifan. Once they moved to the desert, I enjoyed watching Jake the Snake but once they joined the West and Warner took them to a Superbowl, I hated them.
You're probably thinking of the game the previous week, when the Bears crushed the Giants in the divisional round and Sean Landeta completely whiffed on a punt because the wind blew it away after he dropped it.
Yeah I agree it was such BS. He was my favorite Ram for years. To the point where I felt betrayed when he left. Now of course I realize the fault lies with the Rams and their shit owner for letting him go (thanks Georgia) but for many years it killed me to see him playing for the Steelers. How onm earth was KG not a Ram for life?
Yes, it isIsn’t the Peabody the hotel where the ducks come out of the lift and get in the fountain??
The internet has killed remembering shit.Everett was 0-3 vs Vikings in the 80s.
He was never sacked for a safety though.
In 1989 Vikings won in OT on a blocked punt safety by Merriweather at their dome. That's when Karlis had like 7 FGs and Herschel Walker was on the team.
Vikings were down 21-18 in the 4th when a FG sent it into OT, which could explain why that pussy fake fan left early. I laugh at fans who give up and leave early then try to get back in. I was bashing Heat fans for doing that years ago.
Jeez, I had him playing for us. In those days my only games were on scratchy Armed Forces Network on AM lying in bed trying to stay awake. Memory is a weird thing because I thought WE had had some punting bad luck, but maybe I'm, conflating two games. That was the 1985 season during the playoffs and Landeta completely whiffed on a punt in Chicago and the Giants lost 21-0 to the Bears.
