Yet you and others don't trust him to find a guy to replace and even upgrade Saffold. Instead we'd rather pay him top OG dollar and ignore his injury history :)
but that old injury history was due to youthful indiscretions...that old history needs to be expunged and his history should start in 2016.....ALL PRO!

Even if they don't improve, they were rock solid last year under Kromer and McVay. If both guys are reasonably priced, keep them. We know that they're not liabilities and their age makes them unlikely to hit a wall. Saffold's projection is a very dangerous one. We have to be careful with our money.
Agree.
Brown still needs to improve pass blocking and Hav is going to give up pressure to speed rushers.....but that is most RTs....that's why speed rushers are valuable. Haha.

Havenstein size gives him some physical limitations
Havenstein is one inch taller that Whitworth, so I don't think his size is an issue.

My two cents worth.
Pretty soon we will lose Sullivan and Whitworth. Allen may end up at center in two years or less, I think Demby will end up taking over for Brown next year. I also feel that Noteboom will end up taking over for Whitworth when he retires. Honestly we can't afford to lose Saffold too, as we have to maintain some sense of continuity on the Oline. Also I'm pretty sure Havenstein will be staying. We are going to have a lot of changes on the Oline, and we can't just let people walk when they will be seriously needed. Saffold in my estimation, along with Havenstein are the only ones now playing who will in all likely hood be the ones remaining. I could be wrong, but the Oline is not an area where we are relying on a bunch of newbies, that would be a disaster in the making. Again only my two cents worth.

Brown is the one who should stay. He's 25 years old. If you care about continuity, you lock up the right side of the OL for the next 4-5 years. We all know we're going to have to replace Whit, Saffold, and Sullivan sooner than later. You don't let one of the two young starters walk if you can avoid it.

Your honor I move for this testimony to be stricken from the record because he is clearly blind with bias.

Let me put it a different way....Havensteins lack of fluidity causes him issues.
Three guys developing into starters?
Not super likely but that would be ideal.

Try not to tell me what I think, huh?

And I'll try not to tell you what you think either.
Deal?

What do you think Brown & Hav are worth? Maybe try to extend Brown now, get him at a discount with the suspension coming.

I'd have to see what the cap increase is and how they both play in 2018. Based on 2017, I don't think it'll be astronomical. RTs aren't expensive, and an average RG like Brown shouldn't break the bank either. Just pulling figures out of my ass, I'd say $7.5 million per year for Hav, give or take $1 million and $5.5 million per year for Brown, give or take $1 million.

Sure looks to be fair 2nd contracts for 2 drafted players.

Pray - used as a preface to a polite request.

I always look forward to having good friendly discussions & debates about the Rams. I am still trying to make for all the previous decades when I had nobody down here in Florida to discuss the Rams with. I sure did not want to discuss the Bucs & Phins any more.

I've lived in west central Florida for almost 10 years and in all that time, I've yet to find anyone, even folks with Bucs of Phins stuff on their cars who actually want to talk about either.

They'll talk about U of Florida, Florida State of U of Miami until their blue in the face. Ask about the Bucs or Phins and they get that look on their face like a Rams fan would've had in 1998 or anytime after 2006...

I think we've both made our opinions perfectly clear in this thread. I'm not afraid to acknowledge mine. I'm ok with resigning Saffold but not at a price that he's likely to accept. I think McVay and Kromer are capable of finding a successor to Glass Saffold and making him as good or better. But please continue with the partial quote game it's so much fun and is great for a good laugh.
