Same here. But, I also understand it’s not easy and can be costly to land the elite skill guys.

I look at this draft from the perspective that Rams have to land a difference maker at any of these positions (RB WR TE). Speed and power.

I agree that elite RB could be the most beneficial to this team and especially Matthew Stafford. Hand it off and watch chunk plays….rather than having to use the aging arm to create all of the chunk plays.

I still think Corum is being underrated. He was an explosive back at Michigan and had a lot of long runs. I'll maintain, I would definitely not sign Kyren to an extension. I think you only sign a back to a 2nd contract is if they are special. He's good, not special. Corum with another back in this draft and we are fine there. Corum looked more explosive in his limited touches last year. Gurley was special (albeit, he had a known knee issue) which warrants a 2nd contract, and even that was a disaster.

No way I'd take a back at #26 unless you have traded Kyren or have a standing offer. We have more starter level needs that need addressed in our limited top 100 picks.

No comment, regarding our “all-pro” running back, other than it’s getting a little boring regarding whether we should extend, trade or re-sign him. On Corum

He was one season removed from his 2022 injury when we drafted him, so I am excited to see if he has regained some of the speed he lost. It looked as though he might have before he injured his arm last year

I agree with the fact that there should probably be a trade on the table if the Rams somehow drafted a RB at #26 so we could get a pick for someone we aren't re-signing in Kyren and use that pick to fill out the roster. Our offense needs to be more explosive is what is driving this conversation unfortunately. Lastly I do believe that Corum has more juice than Kyren but we don't truly know what he'll look like yet. All the backs that I'd be ok with drafting are more explosive than both Kyren and Corum. Draft can't come soon enough right?

The Bills dropped contract talks with RB James Cook because he won't budge from his $15 million per year demands. I hope Kyren doesn't have the same sense of worth.

I anticipate that $14-15 mil will be his demand. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Yes, he absolutely is.
But watching Omarion's tape... man, he just blew by tackles. Didn't have as much "wiggle" as Kyren, but when there's green grass ahead he's gone. His running style does remind me of Gurley, a bit... I haven't seen anyone like TGII since I watched his GA tape in '15, but the closest I can see in this draft is Omarion.
As I've posted several times here & there, a 1-2 punch of Kyren with someone like Omarion or Tuten would be devastating -- run the explosive back in the 1st half, get a lead & grind them down with Kyren. Keeps both backs fresh for a deep playoff run, unlike when we had Gurley in '18 and ran him into the ground, limped into the SB w/ CJ & promptly embarrassed ourselves.
And if Kyren does happen to get hurt, Corum steps in. Rivers for back #4 / STs.
Honestly, if we are to get the most bang for our buck in this draft, we get an explosive RB. A "move" TE would put the icing on the cake.

The problem with RB at the top is we have a good back so the return is not as great if we hit on the pick. TE by comparison has been terrible with Higs out, and he is not an elite pass game weapon. Higs is an in-line TE who can convert for you at times.

But all that aside if they were to take Hampton at 26 I think we could see something along the lines of...

Round 1. RB Hampton. I'd rather have Martinez or Skattebo later because I want power in our backfield but I'd be ok with this. He can hit a seam at any point and take it to the house, but he's not a guy like Hendy was, who needs large and clean holes to operate. Dude can carry the load and get dirty.

Round 3. CB/WR/TE. Rams have two picks and multiple options in this range they could add to the team.

Round 4. Whichever they don't get done in round 3 goes here. Could also be an OT dev project in round 3 or 4. Maybe a dev QB option.

Round 6. Rams have four picks in this round. There should be a rotational DT in one of these picks. Maybe a Center. Also hopefully a returns specialist for teams who can flip the field.

Rams aren't going to fill all their holes in this draft. But if they can fill the major ones I'd say going RB in round 1 is about equivalent to taking a QBotF there. Not ideal for making a run this year, but it is doable while still contending.

Week one, probably not. I do believe he’d be fast tracked into a combo role immediately. At the very least.

They were a play away from the NFC championship. Adams and Ford could be enough to shore up the two major weaknesses.

Without trading up for an impact player it’s very tough to project anymore improvement than those two. But consider how few points the defense allowed in the final few games last season. With Ford, a guy like Jihad Campbell may make it nearly elite. Or. Tight end that presents a big target and can get open along with Puka and Adams could be enough to give them another 12 pts a game average.

If they draft a RB what’s the chances that player takes enough snaps away from Kyren to increase point production?

In this draft it’s tough to project since it’s not deep with instant impact players in round one.

Well, the Rams were meeting with Rosenhaus yesterday, so it's possible an extension could be announced soon. Or if no extension I would definitely look RB at #26

Not worth it. 2nd contracts should be reserved for special backs. Kyren is good but special, no.

If a rookie routinely turns 4 yard runs into 8 yard runs and occasionally breaks big runs into the third level…he’ll eat into Kyren’s carries quickly until Kyren is the #2 and the Rams let him walk after the season.

What are the chances of drafting a RB(this year) who can do that?

Idk. If the Rams recognize the flaws in Kyren’s game and are looking to upgrade I’d say the chances are 50/50 they can draft a guy better than Kyren.

I’m not a scout, but If the Rams can find Kyren and Nacua in the 5th, then they ought to be able to go get a clear upgrade in a RB deep class on days one, two or three this year.

I'm coming around to being ok with a RB early especially since I don't expect that they will extend Kyren.

But I still have tempered expectations that a RB would be utilized much in year one. Breaking big runs is great but lest we forget, McVay requires his RBs to be good pass protectors before they get many snaps.
