Well that wasn't directed toward any poster in particular. Pointing out another double standard in a never ending sea of double standards in football.
No worries, I figured. I'm simply responding and giving you shit for shits and giggles. I know one thing, someone on here will have guessed right but who will it be? No one knows.

Well the staff also said they aren't gonna use rooks and youth as an excuse. Aside from taking time to development, I don't agree w/ your assessment at all. The team had a bunch of vets last year and also sported a 5 win record, so it a bad record can happen with or without experience.

The main thing I'm not on board with is this "already written" assessment that the team is gonna be bad b/c of young guys. As if there's no chance.

Also a bunch of young guys had play time last year. You don't think any of that will translate this year and aid in their development? I think they are gonna be a scrappy team. Maybe 7-10 wins and compete for a wild card.
Hey it's totally fine to not agree with my assessment, you're way more optimistic than I am there. I think we'll be bottom 5, you believe 7-10 wins, and for all we know it could be worse, in between, or better. With that said, I hope we beat the shit out of every team this year :laugh1:

I prefer the media shitting on us. Also roster strength top to bottom we are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Our saving grace is some of our high end starters and McVay running the team. But even with those positives we're looking at maybe sneaking into the playoffs best case scenario.

So the Rams are a smart bet for lists like this, in terms of who to shit on. Haters need to jump onboard now before we finish up the reload with next offseason, which will probably come with a high end FA acquisition or two, maybe some role players on top of that, and a draft with a high pick for once. It's all good.

Sometimes a season like this is good to keep your fanbase grounded. Otherwise you can become spoiled or entitled like Pats fans were for so many years. Of course I'd rather be spoiled but trying to make the best of it here.
We were kept grounded enough from 2005-2016l Enough at least until 2035!!! A cocky Rams fan? Is that anything like a smart dumb chick? Besides, Patriot fans are an anomaly. That's a result of all those years watching the Red Sox die a thousand times. 4 generations who never saw a Championship so they think they're entitled to be assholes when it comes to the Patriots. Come to think of it, they're probably in for a run at least as long as 2005-2012 if karma works, so they'll disappear into the woodwork.

I am looking for silver linings here is all. :beer2::woozy2:

But to follow that thought many of the new fans who are coming in post-Super Bowl win or who maybe started out when the Rams returned to LA don't have the years of seasoning under so many losses like us older fans do. And for the ones that break their ankles jumping off the bandwagon I'll enjoy us putting that MFer in reverse and backing over them in 2024 lol.

It’s not just Mike Clay who doesn’t fancy our chances, though. Looking through current Power Rankings, the highest I’ve seen us is 26th.

Either we’re going to be terrible this year, or a lot of NFL writers are going to be left with egg on their faces.
We are going to be terrible this year too many first and second year players on the team. Defense will be very bad and who knows about STs all new incl the Coordinator

Its hard to take anything from the first preseason game. A number of starters weren't playing. The schemes are always vanilla. They aren't going to show the more complex plays they plan to use during the season.

With that said, I think there were at least a few projected starters on defense. The pass rush was not there for the most part. I thought the secondary held up ok. I saw some guys with some nice open field tackles. Their coverage was ok. Not great, but not bad either.

The front 7 was a different story. I didn't see much pressure at all. If the quarterback had to scramble or got pressure it was usually because the downfield coverage was good enough to make him hold the ball longer. They had trouble setting the edge on run plays. But that stuff is fixable. I would think that will be a focus during practice.

The starting offensive line was iffy. A lot of that was due to Bruss's problems. So far he's not looking like the guy we thought he'd be. Its hard to take anything away from that because that was not the line we expect to see in September. I have no idea if they will be serviceable or not.

I didn't see anything that makes me think they are ready to be a contender. Maybe they can. But I didn't see it the other night. But again, its hard to take much from a game where multiple starters are not playing.

They’ll never be the worst with guys like AD and Cooper Kupp on the roster…but I do think we’re looking at the youngest roster in the league, and young players will make mistakes.

The biggest thing they lack compared to most teams, and have for some time, are athletic defensive linemen not named Aaron Donald.

It always seems to be Donald and a bunch of try hard types. No athletic down linemen that can consistently disrupt the offense. Murchison is probably the best they got besides AD.

One of the reasons they won the SB is their pass rush was big time after adding Miller and he got healthy down the stretch.

Yet, I see other teams that have 4 or 5 guys that fit that description. I don't get it that we can't have a few hired killers on our DL.

Remember that on offense they sat...

Stafford
Akers
Williams
Kupp
Jefferson
Atwell
Havenstein
Allen
Noteboom
Shelton
Higbee
Hopkins
Allen
Long

That's possibly 9 offensive starters or at least 8, if Noteboom doesn't start. Along with a number of situational role players like Williams, Atwell and the back up TEs

On defense...

Donald
Jones
Durant
Witherspoon
Kendrick
Jolley
Fuller
Johnson

That's another 7 starters if counting Johnson & Witherspoon as starting in a nickel situation.

So a lot of guys, and especially vets, who didn't see the field. So tough to make much of a game where the staff also doesn't scheme for.

And again, the strength of the team is McVay and those 3 or 4 key all pro vets and those strengths are eliminated from preseason games.

The problem I saw was with the pass rush. Those guys you listed, only Donald rushes the passer. Maybe Jones on occasion. And Donald will be double and triple teamed most of the time. Morris is gonna have to be really creative in his pass rushing schemes. I'm not as worried about the offense. Because like you said, most starters didn't play. And probably won't in the preseason.

Agree, but they also didn’t run stunts and stuff that I saw.

I was just watching the 21' NFCCG highlights tonight on YouTube.

The Rams ran a lot of stunts with Miller, Donald, Gains etc... granted better players, but some stunts & games upfront will help. However, yes the DL/ Edge are the biggest issues at this time.
