Yea, that's a bit over the top. I can get a little too giddy about our rookies at times.lol
I do think he is a perfect fit scheme wise and that he's gonna be a big part of our
offense sooner rather than later.

I hope you are right. I try to be more reserved. First round picks fail every year. SEcond round success rate is even worse. Hopefully Snead knocked it out of the park and found two first round worthy players in round 2.

Woods is under contract through next season. What he's afraid of is a release next year to clear over $8M in cap. Next year he's due to be paid over $10M which is his positional contract value. I doubt the Rams release him if he plays well once again this year. Woods simply needs to be patient because in this time of reduced cap it's hard to determine who gets extended for how much. The Rams already gave him a raise over and above the contract amount he signed for. They have treated him well so there is no reason if he remains a focal point in the passing game as expected, I see no reason they won't take care of their own once again. They have spoken to him and I'm sure it was to point out once again how the shrunken cap has changed how they approach extensions.

Everyone saying they think Van Jefferson will be putting up production similar to Woods in year 2 needs to pump the breaks a bit. Its super premature. Woods has been one of the most consistent WRs in the NFL during his time in LA, even more so than Kupp. We all hope Van becomes a great pro but prospects remain prospects until they perform against pro NFL talent. Only then can we start calling them good pro players.

And let's not forget Robert Woods was a 5-star recruit coming out of HS going to USC. He was the #1 rated athlete in that class, and the #6 player overall in the country regardless of position. I hope he's a ram for the rest of his career. One of the most selfless teammates and best blockers I've seen at the WR position too.

For me... if you pinned me down; I trust Woods more.

Something about his build and physical stature... strikes me as a guy more built for the rigors of the game long term.

Kupp is one of those lunch pail types... that is also a star player on game day.... you don’t let that type leave your building.

So... Yeah, we need to keep both

Kupp's knee concerns me, now the knee seemed to be an issue prior to the horse collar tackle suffered against the Broncos and then hurt against the Saints. IMO, Kupp always seemed to be adjusting that knee or brace and to this point Robert Woods has been very durable. Again, not trying to discount Kupp, but I would have to factor in injury history too.

Funny how Kupp's not much younger than Woods.

Cooper Kupp/Born

June 15, 1993 (age 27 years), Yakima, WA

Robert Woods
Born: April 10, 1992 (age 28 years), Gardena, CA

A grand total of 14 Months separate the two.

Funny how they have similar totals of catches and yards when you count college and the pros.

Kupp College .....Catches 428 Yards 6464
Kup Pros.................Catches 196 Yards 2594

Woods College......Catches 252 Yards 2930
Woods Pros............Catches 435 Yards 5585

Kupp Totals Catches 624 Yards 9086
Woods Total Catches 687 Yards 8515

My point here is that they both have had as much wear and tear since playing college and pro football. Kupp, of course, has had the knee injury.

Another comparison is that they are both Very Good/High Quality/High Character Players who are RAMS FAN FAVORITES so let’s just go ahead and RE-SIGN both of them! At least that is my vote (IF, I had one!!)! I know EASIER SAID THAN DONE!!

Rams' Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp among 'best' WR tandems

In the land of Los Angeles, the spotlight comes often.

During a 2019 campaign in which the L.A. Rams were unable to shake off a Super Bowl loss and return to the postseason, though, the notoriety and, perhaps, appreciation did not really shine on receivers Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp.

Woods believes the terrific tandem's performance surely warranted it.

"I think we're not like the flashiest group of receivers, but we're just up there with production, up there with the best, if not the best, as a group and as a unit," Woods said Thursday, via team transcript.

Though they posted a 9-7 record and took third in the NFC West, the Rams were the only team able to boast having two wide receivers with 90-plus receptions and 1,000-or-more yards in 2019, according to NFL Research. Kupp was dazzling to the tune of 94 catches for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Woods added 90 catches for 1,134 yards and two scores.

It was Woods' second straight 1,000-yard campaign, as he became the sixth Rams wideout to accomplish the feat and the first since Torry Holt in 2007.
The goal ahead is to be even better.

"To just be able pick up where we left off and be even more dominant, that's the biggest goal of our whole receiving corps – not only to do what we did last year, but to be even more dominant in the passing game and the running game," Woods said. "To make bigger plays. You know, we break a few tackles, but we want to break them all. That's our goal this upcoming season – to make every guy miss and score when we can."

Woods and Kupp, who are each entering their fourth seasons with the Rams, have a chemistry not just on the field, but in their approach.

"I've got so much respect for Rob," Kupp said Friday, via team transcript. "I've, personally, learned more from Rob than I have any receiver. I have been studying receivers since I was in high school. I've been studying pros since I was in high school. But being here, being able to play with someone who – in my mind – is one of the best receivers in the league, in terms of his ability to do everything.

… He's just been an incredible asset to have as a friend, as a teammate, so I'm incredibly thankful for him and his willingness to share, too. I think that's something that's grown as we've built trust with each other and this friendship has grown. It's just the willingness to play off each other and be able to ask questions. There's never any feeling of like we need to know more than the other guy. It's always, we always want to learn."

This season will be resoundingly different, though, as fellow receiver Brandin Cooks was traded to the Texans and running back Todd Gurley was released and subsequently signed with the Falcons.

It's also a contract year for Kupp.

"I love it here. I don't want go anywhere," Kupp said Friday. "But, you know, in terms of all the contract stuff, I'm really letting all that stuff be handled by my agent and staying out of it."

Woods has two seasons left on his current deal, but would like to get paid, as well.

It's a pivotal season in many ways for the Rams receivers.

Dynamic a duo as Woods and Kupp are, the former realizes the Rams offense works much better when it's not just them producing. He likes what he's seen thus far from veteran Josh Reynolds, and rookie Van Jefferson has also joined the ranks

"You see, we end up, obviously, losing Todd Gurley in the backfield, so we've been working on this offseason, being able to be a big impact in the passing game," Woods said. "Having Josh Reynolds step up for Brandin Cooks, and really just be explosive. A lot of guys making big plays and we've got to keep the explosive big pass plays over 15 yards, is our goal."

Big plays and big numbers. Whether Woods and Kupp command the spotlight or not, they've certainly been producing for the Rams and are among the best in the NFL as far as receiver tandems go.

Get it done, please.
He's out performed his current contract. There is no reason that we shouldn't at least try to lock him up.

Woods is a work horse for us.

Agree - he could go down as even a better FA than Whitworth who will be in the Hall of Fame !! What great veteran leadership!!

Talk about Cooks & Gurley.

What Woods has meant to Copper Kupp. Vice versa it is pretty awesome.

Looking for J Smooth(Reynolds) & Everett who is J Strong in my book to have breakout seasons.

2017 draft was awesome, adding Jefferson in 2021 only makes the Depth great, but hard to keep all 4 WR’s past 2020.

All I see are Comp Picks & a Super Bowl Run.
